DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Amorphous Androgenous - Tales of an Ephidrena
Blanck Mass - World Eater
It's not perfect from start to finish, but it may well be his best solo album so far. It'll be vying for number 1 spot in my end of year list.
Rammstein (it has gone 8 )
New Order - Music Complete
It's not bad, but the songs all sound like they're waiting for Hooky's part to come in. Iggy Pop's track is the best bit.
The Fall - New Facts Emerge
After a short break from its first few listens, this seems slightly better, but is still shite in the wider pantheon of Fall albums.
Disco D - Straight Out Tha Trunk
Venera 4 - Eidôlon
There's just over two years left for someone to edge this out for my album of the decade. Quite, quite gorgeous, especially when turned up to 11.
Carter USM - This is the Sound of an Electric Guitar
Stars of the Lid - and their Refinement of the Decline
Lou Reed - Transformer
Beck - The Information
Raincoats - Odyshape
Esmerine - Mechanics of dominion
Hüsker Dü - New Day Rising
This is one of those albums which I really like, but is marred by having one track which is phenomenally good (Celebrated Summer).
Hannah Peel - Mary Casio: Journey to Cassiopeia
Most excellently recommended by killer b it really is a bloody good listen. I should have listened to it earlier, she played here a couple of weeks ago
Yeah, she's touring it next month as well though I think - but nowhere near me...
(actually she's touring supporting Alison Moyet. This show in Hull looks good tho)
Richard Thompson - Acoustic Rarities
Streamed this yesterday and bought it today. It's excellent.
The Soft Pink Truth - Why Pay More?
Fucking filthy and you know your mum would hate it, so obviously it's great.
As a Grandmother who was just this afternoon muttering 'Do they owe us a living' I take issue!
Turns out my bro is reviewing the Nottingham show, so I can go to that for nowt. Which is good value.
The flying medallions - we love everybody and everything's great.
Diplo - Florida
Kurt Vile - B'lieve I'm Goin Down
Courtney Barnett And Kurt Vile - Lotta Sea Lice
Really into both of these albums.
I got this tape this week and it is amazing. Get on it (There's a vinyl edition too if you can't get with the format of the future)
Ludacris - Ludaversal
Mogwai - Every Country's Sun
Bits of this are top Mogwai, but it lacks a bit of consistency to be near the top of their back catalogue.
Charli XCX - Number 1 Angel
Mogwai - Atomic
Michael Czajkowski - people the sky.
Been caning this for the past few months — really amazing stuff ... bucla synth album from 69 that has similar kind of nocturnal dissonances to some of the sahko stuff from the 90s in particular Vainio's O releases. very much like that there are rifflike pulses as a counterpoint to the free-form tones.
Led Zeppelin - Presence
