On a Rugger Tip! - RWC 2007

Good post 1927

We were excellent for as long as the RGs continued to doze. The minute that they turned up, we turned down.

* Alfie is not a 12 and is too similar in style to Shanks
* There's no creativity outside Hook
* Why is Kevin Morgan choosing to kick rather than utilise his natural counterattacking running game - he's a shit kicker
* So's Shanklin. Why are we still insisting on playing a kicking game when we have only once decent kicker in the XV? (forget that orange bloke who can cannon accurate 60m kicks every fucking time, of course)
* Will James is not an international lock - Cockbain is, you grinning permed gibbon
* Mark Jones is one dimensional
* So's Dafydd James
* Our locks looked fucking brilliant today
* Our front 3 looked excellent in the tight. AJ particularly stood out
* Gethin mullered their scrum when he came on
* Jonothan Thomas was fairly nondescript at 6. Why didn't Charvo start there, and why did he come on as a replacement 7 when that is his less favoured side?
* What purpose does Matthew Rees serve? He is utterly, utterly shite. Keith Wood stated he has significant flaws with his throwing style. Wood is correct- he should not be anywhere near a number 2 jersey. He also needs to forget about his aspirations of being a wing/scrum half. His getting isolated running out of his own 22, and his box kick (a fucking hooker doing a box kick) that went out on the full was just beyond contempt.

If the RGs had started the first half like they did the second, they would have won at a canter. We were lucky to have been given a 20 point head start (just like we were against France and the Aussies in the last year), and even luckier to finish with a winning margin. Why the fuck can't we close out games, and why the fuck don't we appear to have a coherent gameplan?

6/10, and that's just because I'm feeling generous.

Oh yeah, and the chimpa gets to keep his job, til next week atleast!!

Every time he appeared on the TV I pictured 1927's chimp photos. The chimp has more intelligent eyes though.
I really rate Kevin Morgan but he was non-existent today. One of the best runners in world rugby but he hardly had a touch of the ball.
We know how good the Henson/Shankilin center partnership is but Jenkins will feel the need to include the Count and Alfie and so will have to leave out someone at the top of their game. Mark Jones is a good lad I hope he has a good world cup and that tackle by Duncan Jones at the end was priceless.

Noticed that-at one point early on in the 2nd half Argentina were just pouring through gaps, offloading at will-i thought "oh fuck we cant lose this one can we after such a lead?"
Alfie -tho defensively sound doesnt offer much creativity or a tactical kicking game.
Matthew Rees -or if the truth be told any of the Welsh hookers doesnt appear to be able to throw straight or organise a lineout-thats got to be a coaching issue?.

Its true if the Pumas had played the first half like they played the 2nd half -they would have one-quite easily
But they didnt -they were pretty rusty and to Wales credit they squeezed out a win.

So England are easily beaten again. Inverdale's confidence after the mauling of Wales that England are shaping up to challenge for the WC is exposed for the naive and meaningless tripe it is. No tries at all in 160 minutes of rugby, no creativity and no guile, just a bunch of meaty half-props strung out past Jesus.

Yaaaawwwwnnnn!

They'll be found out by Saffas and Shackle draggers alright, though would probably beat Wales' first XV with little problem.

In other news, Gareth Jenkins appears on Scrum V last night, and compounds his risible, "We are clearly clear" quote of Saturday with another fit of scratching, wriggling, eye-rolling, nose picking and gurning, interspersed with meaningless sub-management speak. The man is clearly on drugs/close to a breakdown, and should be sent off to rest somewhere as far away from a rugby pitch as is humanly possible. Tomsk, perhaps?

between the boks and the ABs...

the rest will either play well and then self destruct or just fizzle like they normally do.

I would like to see wales beat the aussies but cant see it tbh

When is a knock on not a knock on?

When Diddy O'Sullivan's men require an inspiring home victory to gee up the bhoys before a world cup, that's when!

Still:

* If the Italian tight five tore them a new arsehole, the RGs will do them worse.
* Without Stampy O'Driscoll they are nothing.

Contenders for the RWC? Don't make me laugh! :p

How many handling mistakes? 40? 50? 1,050? What the fuck do they do all the time? Do they just live in the weights room or do they do the odd passing drill?

Fucking hell. I've played in teams where everybody was hung over. Where I was No 7 and met the 6, 9, 10 and 8 a few minutes before kick off. On a sunday morning after 5 hours sleep each. On a pitch with no grass, in the rain and wind. The 5 of us clicked 20 times better than that fucking shit on display tonight.

Ireland to go out in the quarters against NZ after beating the argies in the group. This means that, for all the hype about paddy rugby, we are as good as we ever were, i.e. not that good in the greater scheme of things.

What are you talking about you silly know nothing cunt? Ireland have obviously fallen for the "big is best" bollox and are so muscle bound they can't stretch their arms out far enough to catch a pass. And this in a time when for once ye seemed to manage to pass the ball further than the 1st centre. Why not just bring Danaher out of retirement and be done with it?

Wht do you not try to build on potential strengths and train with the ball in hand all day every day? Run run run the ball. Wales won a grand slam recently doing that. Remember them setting the 6 nations on fire only 3 years ago?

If you get out of the group it will be a result. The quarters will be an achievement for you useless fuckers and ye're false dawn.

Heh.

It's certainly not just the Irish though. The ABs couldn't catch for shit in the tri nations compared to last season, and as for England...

Not if South Africa have anything to do with it. Impressive performance from the Boks today. It's NZ, SA or Fr for me...

got sent this by a mate of mine from llanelli the other day

copyright max boyce i believe:

I am an entertainer
And I sing for charity,
For Oxfam and for Shelter,
For those worse off than me.

Bangladesh, Barnardo's Homes,
And though I don't get paid
It does one good to do some work
For things like Christian Aid.

But of all the concerts that I've done
For the homeless overseas
The one I did that pleased me most
Was not for refugees.

'Twas for a home in Ireland
That stands amongst the trees,
The Sunshine Home in Dublin
For blind Irish Referees!

And the Irish still blame their good fortune on "luck"

tell me- what luck?!

Written iirc after John West rejected a touch down by JJWilliams when there was a close run thing between him and Dai Duckham in the corner at Twickenhma circa 1975

I've just watched this match - their try was completely against the run of play and they fouled murphy in the run up to it, We had all the play in the second half and deserved to win it. A couple of key players for us were as rust as hell - stringer, o'connell especially. We've got a couple of easy games in the wc to ease ourselves into it so it's not over yet.

When is a knock on not a knock on?. When it goes backwards.

O'Sullivan has got another four years, We play some good rugby at times but have we/he got that killer instinct, I dunno. He has question marks over him imo.

Bunch o' posh cunts though aren't they including the jocks, even the Irish who aren't Munster men are posh cunts.

Mind you the Welsh are proper choir men who can not only play southern rugby but carry a tune, fair enough so.

Anyway, any cunts that can beat Safrica or Aus get my vote in any sport, so go all you posh feckers.

NZ v FRA would be my final and probably will be.

I'm getting really excited now, though being a Wales supporter humiliation is almost inevitable

Luckily however I'm also an aussie

The Dinosaurs of England arent going to get anywhere, especially now Wilkinson is injured yet again.

The encoutner Im really looking forward to seeing is SA v AB.

That should be either a great game or a damp sqib...

I am hoping the former

Looks like Australia could struggle without Gregan. He got arrested yesterday in Paris and could be in custody for a while......

Attention all Wales fans - it really does get worse

This is a fairly approximate transcript of a 5-minute interview conducted by Max Boyce with Gareth Jenkins on the "Max speaks to..." programme on BBC2 yesterday:

Max: "Ewe know, Gar, the thing with us Welsh, Gar, is that we're either right up there or right down in the dumps, isn't it, Gar. Ewe must find that difficult, like"
Garteh: "Yes" (gurns and dribbles a bit) "there is a grieving curve we've been made aware of..."
Max (clearly thinking this is a joke) "Aye..hahahahaha...I get that all the time mun...hee hee"
Garteh: "well...yes...it's something we've become aware of where there's a period straight after a defeat when you grieve for the game...
Max: "?"
Garteh: "...and the most difficult time is the Sunday and Monday...those are vital...what you have to do is hit the bottom of the grieving period by the Monday so that you can start to climb up that curve and prepare for the next game..."
Max: "Er...right...thanks Gar".

THIS IS NOT A JOKE! He really did say "grieving curve". What an utter, unadulterated, cloth-eared warthog rimmer.

This actually surpasses his "it's clearly clear" wibblings prior to the RG game. The only grieving curve I know of started around the same day that that nincompoop took the helm of our national side, and is just about reaching its nadir now. I'm actually rather looking forward to us getting beaten by Canada, as it will surely ensure his swift departure. Gareth, however, has other ideas:

From ICWales:

“We are the eighth best team in the world,” said Jenkins.
Yes, and we were about the fourth when you took over. Go fucking figure

“Is it always going to be about winning? Are we always going to be judged by winning? Well isn't that genuinely what competitive, international sports sides are judged by, Gar? They don't usually award points for the tightness of your perm or the amount of times you pick your nose per minute. FFS!

“What we need is consistency. We need to realise what our goals are and how we measure them.

“If we are going to say that winning is everything, we are not going to have a national coach in the job for more than two years.

“Sacking the coach, and I am not looking after my job here, is not always the answer.
Turkey in not voting for Christmas shocker!

Leave now, you are a twat!
