OMG. I quite like Keane's "Everything's Changing" and Coldplay's "Yellow"

Poster 1 "i love this band"

Poster 2 "they're shit"

Poster 3 "No they're not"

Poster 1 "I agree with poster 3"

Paster 4 "you're all cunts"

Repeat above with more posters and extra expletives (ad nauseum)

This is why the music section is the most useless part of Urban.

It should be deleted (the whole of it).

i've never heard keane, but fuck off. i listen to a lot of music and coldplay is horrifying music.

Well, given you're the most humourless person on this website, forgive me if I tell you to fuck off in return..

FFS. You couldn't handle being associated with a thread on the DF. You're perfect Keane fodder.

i used to play the trumpet. what of it? don't say that the ability to play an instrument makes you a better judge of music.

On that basis, you might as well delete 90% of the discussions on the 'net... :D

I just heard both songs in the last half hour and have to own up. I rather liked them both.

There go my hipster points.

I think you only get away with posts like this relatively unscathed cos you're the guv'nor.

If anyone else started this thread they would probably get a few day ban from another mod. Or at least a thrashing. :D ;)

I'd suggest that anyone who knew anything about music wouldn't dispute that both the fat guy in Keane and Chris Martin are talented musicians.

That's all. I'm not a fan. I can recognise that if I wrote a tune of the quality of the two mentioned on this thread I'd be pretty proud tho.

So what if they are talented? I don't think they are massively talented, but it doesn't matter either way.

They are still playing a load of bland as fuck shit music.

Fair enough. As I say, I'm not a fan... by any stretch. But I have to admit I've tapped along to both those tunes in the past... :D

I also remember (some viewers might want to turn away now) rocking out to James Blunt's Beautiful in a van full of old rastas crossing the mountains in St Lucia. They didn't know who he was, or anything about him. They just liked the melody. And it made sense to me too, belllowing along with a spliff and sunshine and sans-prejudice.

they may be talented musicians but their music is shit

I see villagers with pitchforks on the horizon :hmm:

Fair enough. Music, like any art is inherently subjective...

I think it's kinda funny that editor's come out like this. I do think that might partly be due to him being a muso himself tho.

Do you think Dave Grohl's a good drummer btw? Coz every drummer I know does. And Dave thinks Coldplay's drummer's the best he's ever seen.

i don't know. not familiar with his music. he played well in nirvana, but i think drummers like john mcintyre, jaki liebezeit, richard allen, jeff porcaro and mick fleetwood are better.
also, what's the point in being a good drummer if you have to play coldplay songs?

I liked Hopes and Fears - alot. Wouldn't end up in any 'classics' list I'd ever compile, but there's was loads of bouncy pop songs. Sometimes I like that. Light and not too involving. I can't live every moment to a sound track of my cherished Mogwai, Burial and the like. (i.e. The old adage about Hamburger vs. Steak)

And I really rate the first Coldplay album. Scientists, for example, will stand the test of time I think - unlike the vast majority of the ever growing indie landfill.

Different folks, different strokes... etc. Anyway. too late for a bitching session innit... I respect your opinion, music's one of those things eh....
