Old School Games you used to love

I know it's a shit game, but when I first saw it when I was about 9 I thought it was the most awesome thing I'd ever seen.

I have this on DVD. A version you can play on your DVD player using the remote :D

Yeah I've seen that before but avoided it as I think I prefer remembering it as being awesome!!!
Resident Evil 4 is the spiritual successor to these Laser Disc games. You know the live action bits where you have to do button sequences to avoid falling rocks and stuff.

Is that the right name...? Im not bouncing with recognition here...

Breakout?

Also Doom. Helped me no end with my fantasy school shoot-em-up scenarios.

Doom's not old school.... is it?:D

I remember getting all excited about my mate having 'invisable space invaders' on his Atari console. It was just like normal space invaders except you couldn't see the aliens unless you shot one and they would flash for a second and then disappear again... fantastic LOL :D

Calling Doom "old school" is exactly what you get for allowing 16 bit to be considered old school. What's next? Far Cry?

Old school ended when we developed computers good enough to give semi-realistic representations of things in hundreds of colours on screen. It ended when we were able to start developing games of complexity, that required you to save and pick up your position from a later date.

Syndicate is an utterly modern game. It might be old, but it is not old school.

As far as FPS go Doom would be regarded as old school.

but it doesn't seem quite old enough (1993) to be old school IYSWIM
