Old music from the 40's, 50's and 60's

Thats true but my personal revival of this type of music came out of an Album my uncle copied for me from an old LP he picked up at a Cornish bootsale. Its a compilation of women singers ranging from the 40's to the late 80's I guess. Just by playing this fairly regularly when driving I've got to listen to all the songs and the earlier ones really do stand out. Even those that at first I was not so keen on have really grown on me such as Willow weep for me by Julie London.

If you like Stanley Jordan you might like his version:

As a bit of a Stanley fan, I can't resist adding his 'Eleanor Rigby' - brilliant stuff imo

A bit earlier (Great Depression era, though a lot of the best tracks are recent recordings), but I absolutely love the soundtrack to O Brother Where Art Thou? One of the best movie soundtracks ever.

Sparkling, you've gotta check out some of the excellent mp3 blogs to fuel your new-found habit!

RatoRecords
Particularly recommend his home-brew "nostalgia" collections - about 20 of 'em you can download. Dig through his archives.

Musico de Bern
Latest posting is an "Ultimate Divas" collection!

If you like the music you should, of course buy the CDs *cough*:D but much of the stuff is deleted or hard to get hold of anyway.

Worth buying a month's access to Rapidshare, as it makes downloading the rapidshare links a lot easier!
