Offline 15: Dogstar, Brixton Thurs 28th April FREE

I was suggesting that it's not appropriate to publicly broadcast that he thinks of himself as a "pervert"
Did you see his Offline performance, btw?

no i didn't see his offline performance as i don't live in london and couldn't make it. I have seen him several times before over the past 4 years and I actually think his poems are quite good. you're right, he is a good egg for doing performances for free - he did our degree show fundraiser too and we were very grateful.

he introduces himself on stage as a painter, poet etc.... so didn't think he or anyone else would find it offensive....

I was referring to the generality of comments here (not just yours) and was suggesting that it's not appropriate to publicly broadcast that he thinks of himself as a "pervert" or for people to join in and say how shit he was.

I'm sorry if you feel that way, I've tried to make it clear that I don't know him as a person, I'm only going by his performance on Thurs - which I found (along with a few others) a tad misogynistic.

Not sure I'm too chuffed with all this character assassination going on.

The guy has turned up and supported Offline several times. You don't have to like his stuff or his poems or his painting, but I don't see what's to be gained by constantly slagging him off behind his back off in a public forum.

Shame on you!

Oh, and I like the bloke myself.

Thanks, editor. SP is a sound bloke, and a good mate of mine.

not sure it was a character assassination. just commenting that he was the most stereotypical art school student i'd ever seen...

.

What, as in getting in the national press over the manner of his early departure from art college? Stereotypical?

Great night. thanks editor and everyone.

Thanks to everyone who we interviewed, and sorry to those we didnt get round to, but we'll be hoping to get some more at the next Offline.

Yeah. Next time it would be nice if you didn't TOTALLY ignore the poets.

no, like i said, he looked like a characature of a typical (possibly french or 60's if you really want me to elaborate) art student: long dark coat, black beret, licourice rollies....

i've seen him on other occasions and stand by my assertion that there's a deep vein of misogyny in his poetry. in fact the last time i saw him it was a general point of agreement at a table of about 5 of us. he might well be a lovely bloke, but surely i'm allowed to comment on his poetry and my impressions formed of him as a result?
