Offensive tourists

I was a bit, WTF, when we were on a beach in Lanta, large local Muslim family having a picnic on the beach and two German women decided to pick a spot about five feet away to do their nude sunbathing. Very empty beach too, so why there? Time and place etc. There is a nudist beach nearby, why not go there etc.... There is this thing called mindfulness and respect....Their country, you are guests, why do it when you don't have to, why not be kind etc...
But I don't know who was more prudish? Me perhaps? They didn't complain. Wasn't happy about having a strangers sunburnt tits and minge in my field of vision, whilst I ate my sandwich either. :D

Was this actually done in full view of the people who revered the mountain - that would be kind of disrespectful.
If not, then some youngsters getting naked on a mountain seems the least of why so much of the world thinks we a re a bunch of twats.

But then they took photos of it and posted them for the world to see . Which includes I'm sure the people who revere the mountain . I'm quite sure it wasn't the mountain who told the Malaysians people were running about bollock naked...sorry fanny naked as well in case it offends someone . They were disrespectful and publicised it . Bit silly IMHO

Last time I was in Thailand a local told me a joke with the punch line "farang BBQ" after looking at the sunbathing tourists. I can't remember it but it was funny :)

Basically, arrested for being drunk and indecent exposure... Were they arrested before or after the earthquake, does anyone know? Wondering if the earthquake thing is just something said rather than reason for arrest.

I think the earthquake happened, and then someone picked up on their photos of them naked on the mountain on social media and blah blah blah.

But yeah it was in appalling taste, I was reading about the english girl involved, only 23, looks like a proper little hippy traveller type..... I do feel a bit sorry for them, predominantly because an earthquake happened and they're getting blamed, but its a strong lesson about respect for culture for them.

On another note about offensive tourists I've read quite a few articles about chinese tourists shitting in hedges etc.

I don't feel remotely sorry for them. It's the shouting and swearing at the guides who were asking them to stop that offends me the most.

They might be young and stupid enough to think that stripping off and pissing al fresco is OK but they should have stopped when they were asked to stop and certainly should not have given out abuse!

I see they have been fined and sent packing. Little sympathy for someone doing insensitive country. If you are not happy with a country's " politics" go somewhere else.

What happened to the other 6, there were 10 of them, did they simply fly out uncaught?
Didn't know they'd been rude to the guides, makes it even more twattish.

Update, nudists on the run :D
Police in Malaysia are looking for six other foreigners who appeared in the nude photographs and were wanted for public indecency, a police officer involved in the case told the Guardian on Friday. “We think they are still in Sabah,” the officer revealed on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to media. “There is a possibility they have already left the country.”

He said Hawkins and her fellow detainees did not identify the others who were with them: “They said they didn’t know their full names, only nicknames.”

Another police source said border guards had been informed and were hoping to catch the others at airports.

There were naked people before Islam was invented
As is the veneration of mountains and nature in general. The offendees were good old fashioned pagans, who are clearly in need of new Buffalos. I doubt they would have got of so lightly had they offended our more demanding English pagans

That's not one of those who got naked in Malaysia though, just some random Canadian, rightly slagging off a stupid, barbaric and backwards country.

It's odd that it made C4 news. Also odd is that the British woman was not naked. The guide did not say that he was abused in any way. Everyone pisses on the mountain, there's no lavs up there.

Seems there's the usual agenda going on here with the narrative of hating women, hating young people etc.

Some fuckers were prattling on about this on the train last night, saying they deserved to go down.

Send a woman to prison for baring her breasts where no one can see them.

Seriously?

Some people really need to have words with themselves.

A bunch of kids ( who are not stupid ), go to a country whose laws are quite strict and by going to that country they agree to abide by those laws. They break the law, they pay for it!
Lets for one minute turn the camera back on ourselves. We keep sending a man, at great cost, to prison because he goes walking in the countryside naked. He does not seek publicity, he does not go out to shock or offend but just wanders round in remote necks of the woods naked.
I wonder, which is the bigger of the two crimes, the one where the laws are very strict or the similar crime where the laws are supposedly more liberal. Perhaps we should be taking a biiger look at our own laws first before we go slagging of other countries?
