Off the tracks May 2008 Line up

Feckles...just remembered I don't have a lightweight rain-mac now after last years mudfest of Glasto and WOMAD my zipper got knackered beyond sensible repair via being caked in mud. I'm fairly skint too so any money I have is going on food/booze. Hhmmm.

I find drinking heavily alleviates the need for any kind of weather protection :D

And if that fails I have bin bags and gaffer tape you can borrow :)

I've just had a worrying thought that our tent got a bit trashed the last time we used it... going to put it up on the garden in a bit!

I'm leaving now...only had 2 and 1/2 hours sleep as I finished nights at 07.30 this morning...so 2 drinks and I will likely to crash and burn...apologies in advance if I meet anyone laters...:)

I was wobbly on friday eve, but then mainly slept :D

Twas a good one all in all, apart from rainywindytentwobble.

Nice to meet those i hadn't :)

*waves to Mr Weeble*

We dashed off a bit pronto late yesterday morning. We had planned to pack it all up, whizz back to Derby, sink a few home comforts like real tea and hot food that doesn't go cold in 5 seconds after mass exposure to high winds, and then come back for the evening. First thoughts of home, hot baths and duvets put pay to that :o:D Lovely weekend though and nice to see the urbanite crew. I wonder if mysterious Urban75 hoodie wearing chap will come and visit us now.

Had the worlds worse drive home due to closed motorway junctions and horrendous, generally stationary, traffic and a fucking stupid sat nav :mad:that refused to find me a route home that didn't include the M42.

Finally made it - only took about 6 hours:rolleyes:. Mind you, I found out that Straford-on-Avon is rather a nice place.:rolleyes:

We, that was marvellous! Apologies to peeps I failed to speak to, due to advanced drunkenness/impairment of cognitive faculties.

If you early leavers thought it was windy yesterday, that was a mild breeze compared to this morning's  Gaffer tape ahoy!

That was fun.

Shame we had to leave early, although that was relatively painless thanks to the bloke giving us a lift with our gear.. all the way to the car park :) And a shame I missed the scones too, I got a bit carried away getting 'settled in' :D

Cheers for Bees for giving a whole new dimension to the wasps :D

Overall I enjoyed my weekend and would much rather have been doing that than the probale alternative of pub, sleep, telly, pub, sleep, telly...however the racing bike noise was quite horrible to hear and the weather seemed to be having a strop!

I surprised myself by drinking cider but never went up as far as the strong kentish my BF was drinking...I got merry on Kingstone Black at 7.2. I was even more surprised at how quickly the real ale bar ran out of barrells. By late Saturday night I started drinking Bulmers which tbh I didn't mind but it sadly does not have the same kick.

I didn't eat anything bought on site despite problems with our fridge (turned out to be low on gas) we managed to survive through to today. The food served onsite seemed OK...BF bought his son chips at £2.40 which made go a bit... I also like to shop at festivals and when I was there in August 2006I bought a few lovely things but the stalls this time bar the lantern man and the silver jewellry stalls were just selling tat.

sadly the beer always runs out at some point on the saturday - at least we had some cider left this time!

The food on site was a bit  I did the same as you at the price of chips and curry sauce! and the lack of the crepes van was disappointing (or did I just miss it?)

Didn't do any tatting this time, didn't have any spare money so didn't even look in case I fell in love with something and couldn't have it :D

It was cool though to see the barrells disappearing...:) Yeah there was no crepe van it was by the entrance when I went in Aug 2006. The stalls closed early which is the same when I went before as the weather was very wet n windy then too...but at least there was no motorbike noise then?

Have folk been before when the bike noise has been going on ?

There's always noise from the track, as it's right behind you, and being one of the major venues in the UK there will never be a weekend when there's nothing going round, although it did seem a tad louder than previous years I must admit.

It dosen't bother me that much tbh, I just kinda filter it out...
