Off the bollockometer - bad movies that you love

So it's good in situation X and bad in situation Y. What it isn't is simultaneously good and bad.

Whereas my argument is that KFC is demonstrably shite, but tastes brilliant.

Is ANYone going to give us a film example ever again?

Sometimes it tastes brilliant and is therefore good regardless of making you fat. Sometimes it is just horrible greasy cock and is therefore bad. What it never is is both good and bad.

No, sometimes it tastes great but that does't mean it's not shit, therefore making it both good and bad in the same instance. Again, you seem to think "I like" = "Is good". Fail.

You're just wrong and don't know English or logic.

"oh yeah this is ten years old but also five years old"
"right I think this is a fish, but also it isn't a fish"

Well, that was a winning argument. Good work.

So, for clarity, you're saying that "I Like" IS the same as "Is good", correct?

For clarity you're saying "I am wrong", correct?

Nope, I'm saying that you are wrong in your assumption that a subjective position taken by an individual somehow has an effect on the absolute condition of something. That you are wrong in your assumption that something as subjective has film actually has an absolute condition, that it can either be "good" or "bad" and that the individuals perception of such somehow creates this condition in their own mind. That a person can only have one view of something, that it is either "Liked" and therfore "Good" or "Disliked" and therfore ""Bad". In fact I reject entirely your overly simplistic view of all of this, your "black or white" approach and suggest to you that the world truly is shades of grey and that this fact bothers you, makes you feel on unsafe ground, makes you wish the world truly was binary.

blah blah blah you don't understand what I'm saying at all and your mum smells

Honestly, one would have thought that the idea that if one is asked "is X good?" requires an actual answer, at least of the form "it's really good in situation X" or "it's awful unless you're in situation Y", rather than "well it is and it isn't", would be uncontroversial.

If I love it it aint a bad product and I will argue the products corner until I am drunk enough to need my bed.

Hang on, you (FM) keep editing your answers to make them look better! That's cheating!

Well, I can't help it - if I edit something it stays like that. The edits never make things that much better.

Anyway, I'm going to find a politics thread to argue on if you'll excuse me. There must be some around.

I didn't think I'd enjoy it at all, but in about 1995 I took my son and a load of his mates to see Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was great! The Ritzy was mostly full of boys between the ages of 5 and 10 shouting out at the screen, cheering, booing, gasping with shock. It was great and I'd see it again.

Precisely, Mrs M.

Thankfully that awful FM hs gone off to some politics thread, I thought he'd never leave.

Lost Boys. Fucking rubbish really, but hugely entertaining. (Oh no, FM's argument means that it really is good! Just because I enjoyed it! FFS)

...and Summer Holiday. What's not to like about a fresh-faced Melvyn Hayes, Una Stubbs et al having an adventure on a London bus?
