- get in a top-quality goalkeeper, specialist right-back, centre-back and creative midfielder.

- get in two or three other squad players.

The gap to the top four is a huge chasm. I don't accept that it can't be bridged but the question is whether Villa (or clubs like Everton, Portsmouth or Man Citeh) will or can buy the players to enable them to do it.

Thing is the top 4 will most likely get to the players other clubs need first.
