Mc Cain is coming accross as pretty desperate - hes way more negative than Obama. Its stupid - it may play well with the core vote and racists but it allows Obama to play the 'dignified white hat good guy' rising above it all - against the mean old man.

Didn't watch in the end but the point about the Bradley effect is important. Hopefully the Obama campaign will build such a high poll lead that when it kicks in it'll still hand him a win.

This went well.
Obama started really poorly, but McCain started to drag himself to some points where he looked particularly uncomfortable. But another crap debate, with Obama playing too defensively and still too hesitant before starting to roll, and McCain... well, being McCain.
Also, would someone please shoot Joe The Plumber? Send the thing that's living in McCain's cheekbones, that should be enough.

Saw bits of the debate on Newsnight. How could anyone vote for that sad sack McCain. He looks like a thunderbird puppet who's had his strings cut. It must be in the bag for Obama now.

I missed the debate but the bbc news tonight said something about revelations that Joe isnt a plumber and may be behind on paying his taxes!
Behind on taxes, is an apprentice plumber earning about $40k a year so would get a greater tax decrease under Obama's proposal than McCain's, so quite how he can afford to buy a company with $250k profilt/turnover (debatable which) who knows, is a registered republican whose family has given >$1k to McCain's campaign, is related to Charles Keating (of the Keating 5...).
And if you go to the tube you can find Obama's very reasonable response to Joe ont he stump that makes Obama look like a politician who can actually explain his policies off the cuff and a perfectly nice bloke as well (whereas Joe looks awfully like a plant).
Apparantly some of McCain's people aren't awfully happy he brought him up. Can't think why...
