Oatibix

they are grim - but i eat them every day.

why? because they are the only thing i can eat at breakfast which doesn't drive me to distraction with hunger by lunchtime.

I much prefer weetabix, and bought some the other day cos the teeny tescos on the way to work doesn't stock oatibix - I was ready to start taking bites out of the furniture by 10.30am...

I don't like porridge (and i've tried, but it triggers my gag reflex) and i'm not allowed to eat museli (cos there's a girl in my tutor group with an insanely sensitive nut allergy) - so i was actually quite pleased when they invented oatibix. But they do need a lot of milk, it's true - and they are pretty rank.

They definitely go soggy too quickly. The one time I bought them I ended up eating them dry out of the box and drinking a separate glass of milk, which actually worked pretty well.

As a gluten-free person I don't have much choice on the cereal front; either rice crispie style or cornflakes style. I could occasionally have porage it's true, but I'm not very good at cooking the correct - tiny - amount. For me oatibix is great - one bisk is an OK serving, it takes seconds to pour on litres of milk and I like babyfood.:D

I agree, awful
Same with these new 'oat' cherio's

which conveniently still contain wheat.. well thank you you twats at Nestle.. my coeliac daughter is gutted. She just wanted to be able to eat something which wasnt soooo different from everyone else, just for once...

porridge rocks

I haven't tried oatibix but might, because I like weetabix, but oats are just healthier...

I fell victim to Oatibix owing to my inability not to buy 2 for 1 offers, combined with my inability to throw food out. It's taken over 6 months to get through two packets of the fuckers.

It's like the difference between lime Jaffa Cakes and actual Jaffa Cakes - so close you'd think the new version would be ok, but in actual fact it's pure evil.

no:eek:

proper oats cooked with water and salt, so thick that the spoon will stand inside, along with an industrial strength cup of tea, is proper porridge.

Yes. See posts 26 & 27.
