Oasis at Glastonbury, last night...bbc3

Oh hang on, didn't MILLIONS of people buy their records? Haven't MILLIONS of people gone to watch them play?

Shit, all those wrong people.

By your logic then westlife are the greatest band ever

Once upon a time I thought Oasis were pretty good - liked the first singles and thought the debut album was not bad. Always liked loud guitars married to some good tunes with a sprinkling of attitude you see.

Then suddenly every fucker in the world was drunkenly singing along to a dirge called 'wonderwall' and they were being hailed as the greatest band on the planet. And the more exposure they got - the more they came accross as inept, talentless monkeys on coke. There was absolutely nothing behind their 'attitude' other than pig ignorance and a hugely over inflated belief in their own importance. Rock'n' Roll reactionaries, as sexy as cold chips, with all the charisma and appeal of a beligerent drunk at pub closing time, the musical equivalent of a piss up against the wall.

No beauty. No passion. No style. No fun. No danger. No excitement. Not a trace of any originality. None of the things that make a band great.
