Anyone popped in here recently? While i'd like to support Rough Trade around the corner you have to admire Nudge (Hanbury St. Spitalfields) for being a shop with character. There seems to be a regular drunk in the corner shouting "Go-orn play someting lively...get the girls in" in fact there seems to be alot of drinking outside & behind the counter. They seem to have become a repository for about 10tons of old & worn out reggae/dancehall 45s....presumably old DJs are ditching this stuff in favour of CD. Plenty of other stuff besides include a delighful tray of 'blanks' 45's with little or no markings. A signed photo of Pete Doherty stares down at you and sooner or later the shop turntable plays something you gotta have. In a world of retail homogenization, digital downloads & closing record stores the world needs Nudge.

When I next go to That London I was intending to pop in to the new Rough Trade but I'll also try to find Nudge it sounds good. Is east London the new west London or summat or has it been so for a long time? I usually only go west but all the new good things seem to be out east.
