Llantwit hit it on the head really, he knows me (online) and i'm basically trying to defend something I don't really agree with. I have quite clearly lost this debate and would rather a nuclear free Wales.
Of course it's about votes. Jones is the AM for Ynys Mon. The formula is simple. The feeling on the ground is strongly in favour of nuclear power.
There is a legitimate point Udo can make that one Plaid elected representative (who is also the leader, which makes it more damaging) is supporting nuclear power and that weakens the case for a nuclear free Wales/Anglesey. But Plaid's AMs are allowed to go against the party line if they feel strongly. There won't be any 'holding to account' for this, we'd just lose Ynys Mon, the nuclear station would still be built, and Wales would be weaker as a result. I back down on this debate, it's obvious really that we should rule out new nuclear stations in Wales like the SNP has done in Scotland. I'm unconvinced Udo knows anything about how real political parties work because he's only been involved in sects. If you're against the political process & political parties from a principled position like Llantwit on this forum, fair enough, but if you are trying to be involved in it like Udo, at least do it properly.
What I think is stupid is that Udo is saying it's a Plaid decision when it's not a decision taken in Wales at all (not even to do with Welsh Labour), it's a UK Labour government decision (just like St. Athan). All I see from Udo's posts is a disproportionate level of venom directed at Plaid because they're soaking up the supporters Udo wants for Respect. This is really sad because nobody involved in electoral politics in Wales even considers Respect to be a factor, and a fair few haven't even heard of them.
I don't even know what faction of Respect Udo belongs to, because the SWP always split up the organisations they're involved in, and Respect is now apparently two different parties with the same name. It is funny and something we could all have a laugh about.
