NOW they're remaking Total Recall. FFS

I disagree.

If they take the film and work from that with ignorance of the book, it's a remake of the film.

if they ignore the original film and make a new interpretation of the book, it's not a remake of the film, it's a re-interpretation or new version of the book.

No, a film version is re-made. Has anyone called Tim Burtons planet of the apes film anything other than a remake?

'see you at the party richter'

I like how in total recall he gets his arms cut off then in starship troopers he has a bionic arm:cool:

I bet there won't be owt as good as that scene in the new one.

One of the better Philip K Dick adaptations I reckon. It really captures the disorienting multiple realities idea that Dick did so well.

i just hate the 'oh man that was cool' crap they put in movies. Total Recall would be better if it was dark like AI or iRobot.

Hurrah!

Expect a bland 12A/PG13 cert like all the other remakes of 18 films have been getting.

"contains one use of strong language and mild action violence"

how come they can't come up with new ideas. it isn't like all the good scifi novels have been done

they still haven't made a proper film of neuromancer and that lot...

There's plenty of new ideas & creative writers out there but since the film industry (well, Hollywood anyway) is shitting it's pant's over downloads none of them want to put money in to something that doesn't have a guaranteed box office success. "What was a big hit that's just old enough so that a lot of teenagers won't have seen it?".

What they should realise is that people (well, me anyway) would happily stop downloading stuff & go pay my money at the cinema if they got back to making films worth paying to see.

If I was Verhoevan I think I'd be kind of insulted. His most successful films both being remade? This way people will look back at his work & only see Showgirls.

According to wikipedia they originally conceived of a sequel, starring Arnie as the same character, and following the plot of Minority Report.

Edit: and this has got to be one of the best animatronic effects films ever.
