The lunchtime crowd were talking about it. You must have worked through lunch. Or maybe you went out into the real world to eat. Or maybe not, because people would have been discussing it and probably grinning and cheering.

Not a bad title for a thread though depending on how things go down. Online media been full of speculation as to scale of Downing Street getting their retaliation in first eg and eg though if Dizzy is right she may well have seem them coming, otherwise that's 3 houses with no capital gains owed...

Apparently rumours of further Ministerial resignations to come which ties in with other rumours of imminent police raid on Parliament Fees Office - can you be an active Minister whist helping police with their inquires when you are the suspect - enough of a brew hahah when Blair was interviewed as a witness.

National Service, that'd sort them out. Mark my words.

National service is what they are supposed to be providing right now.

Anyway, just as Military Chiefs say they don't want troubled teenagers forced into the Services, they certainly wouldn't want these troubled and troublesome politicians on their hands. It would be worse than an episode of Dad's Army.

"Don't Panic Captain Brown Sir, don't panic!"

Fantastic. So now she's the leader of the rebellion rather than resigning in disgrace. Amazing what having the right friends in the right places in the media can do for you.

Nope she left for Salford as soon as PMQ's were over, probably not expecting to raise her head over parapet until after tommorrows election. Independant radio and Sky reporting reshuffle happening at moment.

Fwiw, Part 2

I think we've got to that place in all the big political stories when the media - en masse - act like girls at midnight in the dorm when one of them has suddenly got her first period.

Unfortunately I had some meetings with a bunch of boring as fuck Quants - well one was interesting, a REAL rocket Scientist who'd worked at Krasnoyarsk
air base back in the early 80s

Quite. All of a sudden it's "Gordon was being so unfair to Hazel". And that doesn't happen without people doing some briefing for you.

That version of events has been around a while now, since Gordon described her expenses stuff as unacceptable whilst also seeming to suggest that certain other cabinet members had done nothing wrong.

ITV news just called her 'the silent assasin'.

Hardly a fair description of someone who has resigned in disgrace in anticipation of being sacked. According to the Beeb she was quite vocal in her last meeting with Brown. I would be quite glad to hear some silence from this particular 'assassin'.
