November Craft Club

Sodding hell - I've just had a look at the I-Knit website to get their number, only to find there's a note saying they're closed on Sunday 19th November. Grrrr.

I guess we could still go to the Bonnington Cafe and the pub quiz, or we could have the craft club chez moi.

Any preferences? I suppose we'd have to book for the Bonnington???

ok... I think it is worth booking Bonningtons if we do go there then or we could go to someone's house then the quiz?

oh ARSE!! I've been waiting to buy some yarn from them that I need...

Bonningtons is about eating though - not knitting...

I think we should find an alternative!!

Either at someone's house... or some other venue.

Tries to think of other venues...

We could go to Mango Landin' that's got a very nice sofa-y type of space... but there will probably be people smoking... :(

I had that exact same train of thought. What about just moving it a week later though? (26th) Does that make it too near the December one?

Half of us will be in Derbyshire that weekend.

I'd be happy to host if that date still suits people.

Personally I'd rather do it at yours and save Bonningtons for a date when we can go there on a Sunday - maybe our January meet. :)

OK - why don't we combine it with the making of mincemeat then - so it's got time to mature a bit before Xmas. Then we can do pickling at the December one.

If I can have some idea of numbers then I can purchase ingredients and divide the cost in the usual way. :-)

oh that's a VERY good idea - your kitchen is much more suitable for that too!

Maybe we can just focus on the Xmas card making and knitting in December and forget the pickling?

Toggle seems to have a good recipe.

thanks Ms T - am keen on mincemeat / cards / knitting... not so much so on pickling! :)

8oz each of raisins and sultanas and currents
4oz of chopped apples, i use bramley
2oz veggie suet
rind and juice of a lemon and an orange
teaspoon of mixed spice and cinamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmed
4 tablespoons brandy
1 tablespoon golden syrup

mix it all up in an oven proof bowl, if you have really large bits of dried fruit like those jumbo sultanas, then it's best to chop them up a bit first.

Put in the oven for 2 1/2 hours abd gas 1/4 then stick into jars.

Don't bother buying any ingredients for me. I've got quite enough left from last year's efforts. If you need jars, pm me and i'll bring some. IIRC, I'm also bringing some needles and the big accessory book for someone to borrow. If i'm feeling keen, i'll bring my spears as well.

just let me know exactly when to turn up and if there is anything else I need to bring that i've forgotten.

I add nuts to mine too... and cranberries... and cherries...and more brandy... er... ok I'll shut up :)

Oh yeah, I may be able to borrow a set of ink stamps for our card making day. WE're doing card making as an activity at the school's chrissie fair.

How much does that make, toggle?

I'm in for craft club, especially at Ms T's since it's only up the road. Count me out the mincemeat stuff though - I bloody hate raisins and sultanas

I'm up for eating the glitter instead though. Shiny. :D

ahh - ok, well i won't come and take up valuable space - cos i'm expecting to be a bit the worse for wear, and it was really about buying wool. i shall, however, be bothering you all for advice as the great scarf knitting project progresses.:)

Thanks, lovely people for pm alerts to the change of plan.

Will be there, look forward to it, but knitting only for me. :)

So I don't need to bring needles and book for you then.

Hmmm, where is that and what's that gonna be like to get home after

It's on Clapham High Street. Near the Northern line tube.

Just an idea though... Brixton comedy club is also on that night. :)
