Not paid enough?

I can confirm that there are no 'cryptic' statements such as a wild claim that foreigners are slimey.

There is a demand for construction workforce, and employers are willing to pay more than you'd earn in an office*.

*depending on what you do and how much you get paid, of course.

Coincidently, in London, a temp. banksman is likely to earn (with overtime) £1,000 a week. Sorry for the misunderstanding from before. If you want it you can get it.

RaverDrew, what do you do then?

Worked on and off in the construction industry since I left school. Never done an office job in my life for your information. My dads a site foreman and I know the industry very well. I've lost count of the amount of people who've deserted construction because it simply isn't worth it. I've seen plenty of people lose their business' and livelyhood from having to undercut rivals just to win contracts.

Unskilled workers in the construction industry earn absolutely fuck all. Learning a trade which takes years, is a way to earn an honest wage, but is still bloody hard work. Very early starts, working in shitty conditions, plus no fun at all working outside when there is driving rain or snow. Physically draining when working to tight schedules. Maybe the grass is always greener etc. but you'll always hear site workers going on about how the suits have it easier.

Don't get me wrong there are some cushy jobs out, just as there is in any industry, especially if there is a lot of stupid money being thrown at things by bad management. But trust me there are a lot easier ways to earn a crust in this world.

No, not at all! It makes them slimey because they get in there behind our backs ;)

Just as if anyone else did it, just like the Irish, they love construction :D They're slimey too!

Sorry but my Irish family is too busy being accountants, designers , architects , film directors , actors , musicians , scientists [ et alia ] to return to the only industry that was previously deemed to be suitable for them by the likes of you.

I elected irish to be slimey because I am part irish and to null out any possible remark that hasty people may wish to throw. I could have said the same about stereotype but I chose one of the many stereotypes I fall under.

My family too are prosperous, just that in the construction industry you'll find that there are a lot of irish labour, along side eastern european... excuse me for noticing a coincidence.

I wish I hadn't bothered with this thread at all, I've only been insulted and treated with complete diatribe for my attempt of offering an alternative.

You've only got yourself to blame, with your wildly exagerated facts and pisspoor and offensive stereotyping. Despite maybe having had a few good valid points to make.

Anyway I got a strong whiff of troll from the moment I saw your original post tbh. 2/10

Part Irish ?

You better not let your Irish relatives see the kind of comments you make about them behind their backs.
You may have to encounter the stereotype of them being hard as fucking nails......

a whole lot of you are destined to work in offices being middle managers with your degrees in a company that in the whole scheme of things don't really produce anything apart from sourcing other companies with a service/product

Quite.

Iam on a new contract next week , will take home around £900 a week for 5 days ,I will leave my house at 7 am an finish working around 4 pm go to yard on way home restock . I wont have a break as such in my working day . I get a good wage but i work my nuts of for it an iam on a 3 month contract which i got a days notice for when the last contract finished . There money to be made out there but the wages you can earn are falling drastically because of the influx of labour from other countries .

Bottom line is if you can get some one to work harder for less money you will take it wont you .

I'm not paid enough , but I don't work in an office and I actually enjoy what I do more than going to work ona building site . Not everyone is driven by money !
