Not going near Lougborough Junction

I remember stagging pissed into The Green Man 15 years back trying to score a little draw.

I got served and invited to play three card brag with a few fellas. It was more scary back then compared to now. I am sure the problem the original poster put forward will be solved in time. No scary types will be able to afford to live in the area unless they are in reciept of scarse social housing.:)

The Green Man? What a pub...saying that it did get a bit out of hand in there before it's closure a few years back.

Regarding Social housing...I know it's not the same but a lot of the Victorian properties round there that have been split up into flats are Council owned & tenanted. IIRC Lambeth own a fair chunk of the Victorian properties round there on streets such as Lilford, Eastlake etc etc.

The question is for how long? The new administration has high hopes and ambitions. If the sums suddenly don't add up, there will be even more pressure on all council owned housing and commercial property.

Loads of those properties got auctioned off under the libdems, as they became empty. It was proper infuriating to watch.
Seems to have stopped recently.

A lot of properties around LJ are owned by a "certain" landlord...i used to go to parties in south london and as soon as you would mention his name , there were about 20 other people in the room that had stories to tell about him !!!!!

Lambeth Council! *shudder*
I lived at LJ for nearly a quarter of a century and it did get well gnarly before I moved to central Brixton. A lot of businesses closed and it became a bit tumbleweedy at night which is never a good thing. However the station used only to be open rush hours which was shit. I'm glad that trains stop there more often now as it's handy.......

pk - i have no time for any of the people you're referring to, but that's out of order.

Is it fuck.

They can dish it out, they can take it.

I disagree.

In my brief visit over there, Intostella threw all sorts of shit at me. I didn't respond in kind.

It kinda helps.

Maybe so, but these boards aren't going to stoop to their low, low level and post up such personal comments, even if they are true.

I'm sure interested parties could PM you for details if anyone gives a fuck anymore.

Poor old Loughborough Junction, gets such a bad press. I've lived on the Thorlands Estate 5 years, have a 3 year old who was born there, and none of us have ever had a problem. Most of our neighbours are friendly and just want to get on with life. There are a few idiots, muppets, drug addicts, but then that was the same when I lived in Brighton, Sheffield, Oxford etc.
As with everywhere, if you take care, keep your wits about you and don't act like a victim waiting for trouble it's fine.
Case in point, a recovering crack addict alcoholic neighbour staggers about looking muppeted, has no idea who to talk to and who to avoid, and makes a nuisance of himself. In 6 months he's had three kickings and not a lot of sympathy.
