Nordic pop... get into it.

Try Husky Rescue from Finland ( :p ). Their Country Falls album is one of my favourites of the past couple of years. Think Magnet is from Norway - his first album is fucking ace too.

Junior Senior can represent Denmark, and perhaps we could put in first album Britney Spears as it was more or less all constructed by top Swedish genius Max Martin.

I fully back up Annie and do we include Bjork there too? Is Iceland Nordic?

Finally, I'm not sure where exactly their from but they sound Scandanavian, so I'll nominate Surferosa. Their "Saturday Night" has an incredibly catchy hook. (Whigfield can go in, although Surferosadidn't cover her song.)

Acid House Kings - great name for a band, and although a little bit twee their last album (Sing Along With...) was just gorgeous... :D
It even came with a free Karaoke DVD!

one add:

[Denmark] Kasper Bjørke. Here's the last single . Sweet :)

Husky Rescue have a new album out: Ship of Light. Sound of Love is the single and it is defo something I will play a lot.

Nordic pop is full of win! :)

Err... Germany isn't that far from being Nordic, but The Presets are Australian. Not so close.

Norway has some nice nu-jazz (dodgy genre name). I like Bugge Wesseltofte, Bobby Hughes Experience, Jaga Jazzist and Nils Peter Molvaer.

Have I'm From Barcelona been mentioned yet ? They make some of the catchiest pop music I've ever heard.

Love Stina Nordenstam whose And She Closed her Eyes is one of my all time favourite albums.

There are also The Concretes, A Camp and Komeda. The last one made only one album but that one was great. The were a bit like a more up tempo Stereolab.

Probably a bit too chilled and ambient to be pop, but I'm a big fan of Johann Johannsson, especially Englaboern, IBM 1401 - A Users Manual and his soundtrack for a Scandinavian film called Dis.

Annie's new album is superb, apart from "The Breakfast Song" which is awful. Still, an album well worth waiting for.

Got pointed at Mando Diao by my 17yo niece recently. They've got some pretty good tunes, if nothing earth shakingly innovative.

incidentally, the erlend oye dj kicks is also splendid - features him singing over loads of the tracks, including a great rendition of 'there is a light that never goes out' over a royksopp remix...
