NOOOOOOO!! Reggie Perrin to be remade....

I watched about twenty minutes of it on iplayer and thought it was really, really shit, so I watched In Shackleston's Footsteps instead, which was great.

I thought it was awful – I like Clunes and the gorgeous woman from Moving Wallpaper who is in it, but I won't be bothering again.

You wonder which classic Brit sitcom they might have a go at ruining next and shudder – Porridge with the Boosh pair as Fletch and Godber perhaps...

My mum was round here and wanted to watch it because she loved the original series, I hadn't seen the original but as I am not a fan of Clunes I was hardly thrilled at the prospect. I didn't find it very funny, I kinda smiled once at him using the womans hairbrush and getting caught but apart from that I was bored. Wont be watching again.

i though it was alright. i'm willing to watch the next one. apart from the fact that i'm away for three weeks including a stint at bearded theory. how long does the iplayer thing keep stuff?

I laughed, out loud, several times.
OH! That was you was it. I thought it was the canned laughter. (The original had canned laughter also I think)

Actually it was better than I expected, which means it wasn't excruciating.
I quite liked the beginning where he walked past 'Sunshine Desserts' and on towards 'Groomtech'.

Things to do with pumice - 'make them into bath floats for razors -' made me chuckle. And no attempt at farty cushions so far. Good.

I laughed several times, which is more than the original. I liked the original, but more in a smile-at-the-idea way. The remake actually has jokes. I liked it.

I like Martin Clunes but this Reggie Perrin is an outrage. My dad truly named me after CJ and I did not get where I am today by being named after this shit.

God its just awful. My mum told me to watch it, and she loved the original. Mind you I made her watch the Inbetweeners last night and while watching it myself thought, err, this is a bit rude for mum.:D

I just watched the first episode of this blasphemy and
christ it was goddawful.

Clunes doesn't attempt the same vocal inflections as Rossiter,
but then he doesn't make it his own either and
it really makes you see how great a Physical comic actor Rossiter was.
Clunes just can't make us laugh with his moves.

You know, I'm heartened that hardly anyone I know likes this show.

Reasons:

It's a BBC comedy.

The BBC have renewed both My Family and Two Pints of Lager for about about thirty seasons each now.

I've never met anyone who admitted to liking My Family, and the two people I knwo who like Two Pints are probably saying that for reverse street-cred.

Therefore, this comedy will go on and on and on. :D

It was shit compared to the classic , but it still beat anything BBC1 has had in that time slot
I enjoyed it much to my surprise , but in a MY FAMILY way instead of a future classic way

No need to watch it though.

I once caught 5 minutes of Cloownes murdering "Mr. Chips".
he's even more shite than David Jason.

So far managed to only hear 20 seconds of this abomination on the radio - which was more than enough.

It's probably largely an age thing - and even with really good actors, remaking classics is insane.

Hm. I thought it was okay, so long as I forgot that it was a remake. I'm not going to give it better than "okay" though. Taking it as a remake, it's horrid.

Fucking sacrilege. Getting Clunes to attempt to fill Rossiter's shoes is akin to commissioning Blur to release an album full of Rolling Stones' covers.

Hear bloody Hear.

I've had to set up a video for Friday's programme.

I tried to reason with my colleague that if she was looking for "intercultural communication" (her discipline), this wouldn't do at all.

I think maybe they should remake this stuff for different audiences, but only make it available under the counter.

I have to admit that Rossiter generally takes me back to an era I would rather forget (sadly that applies to all 4 preceding decades and this one come to that. :() - it's just so damn good .. or the production is just so cliched...

I can't properly judge it as I haven't seen it but I won't watch it out of principle.

It'd be as much fun as ramraiding halfords with a Sinclair C5.

I have to admit that the current week's episode -- on as we speak -- really is very, very good indeed.

Seen two episodes now and think it's okay. The original wasn't really laugh-out-loud comedy so if your complaint is that you're not laughing much then I reckon you've forgotten what the orginal was like
