Dorchester 2 - 3 Weston-super-Mare

After going 2-0 down early in the second half two goals from Marc McGregor and a deflected one from Paul Hunt means that we get to sing:

'Seagulls shit on Magpies!"

:)

(I wasn't there, but I still sang it!)

Hinckley Town 3-1 Worksop Town

First 20 minutes were excellent but failed to capitalise and then all of a sudden it was if we stopped trying. They scored in 44th minute and started off the second half in the same vein, made it 2-0. We pulled one back with our only shot on goal in the whole game. They ended it with a penalty late on. Very depressing to travel 100 miles to see such pap.
Well off to vauxhall motors on saturday, cant play worse surely!

DO Hickley still play in the goddawful stadium?

the one with a bar on stilts?

Nice area, shittest ground in the league last year (and that was before we moved).

I went there on a freezing Tuesday night and saw us lose a dreadful game 1-0.

Yes they do. I'm sure if someone hit a hard shot which went over the bar and hit that shed on stilts it'd knock it down. The standiing area at both ends is a disgrace, no covering and very little room (mind you they had very few fans). Not much seating either. They are moving to a new stadium in October/November though. Otherwise I think they'd be booted out the league very quickly for their ground not being up to scratch.

Yeah, they had about 200 there on the Tuesday we were there last year.

Apparently, on our previous visit a man was booted back through the door into the bar by a decent shot (I didn't see this). I'm convinced that will fall down if they don't move.

They had about 350 tonight, which i know its tuesday evening and everything but is still shocking for their first competitive home game of the season. One of our lot kicked the back of a sponsor board in frustration and put it through! I think the whole ground is generally rotting.

They did have two stewards controlling the door at the club house to make sure people didnt keep going out and in during the game.

We had 480 on Saturday and were fairly ok about it (way above average for us) but I noticed Redbridge had about 100.

In fact, I noticed generally that Ryman league clubs seemed to have poor attendances.

On a saturday we look to get over 500, few seasons ago was getting 700-800 regularly, think redbridge are in a spot of bother at the mo, their playing out the area i think. Not totally sure how far barkingside is to redbridge plus the daggers were home on saturday too.

There were a few bad attendances though. None to get near Weymouth (or Crawley last year).

We used to average 450 ten years ago (three leagues down from this one).

The club hasn't been marketed imo. It's well placed to have big crowds!

i think having chris waddle for us a couple of seasons back as well as a good cup runs really helped us. FA Cup 1sr rnd and FA trophy quaters, which got us on to the regional news. I swear lots of clubs have so much more crowd pulling potential than they realise. I know plenty of people who support the league sides but follow their local non-league side in the paper/tele-text yet it never dawns on them to actually go along to the odd-game.

Yes, we got to the FA Cup 2nd Rd last year for the first time ever.

We only managed to take 600 to Northampton.

We also lost to Telford in the 4th Rd of the Trophy.

Vauxhall Motors 1-1 Worksop Town

We were soooo close to winning. An 86th minute goal for Vauxhall evened things up after, we took a first half lead, in fact the first time we've lead all season. Made so many chances but once again just lacked that little something extra up front. Had a perfectly good (and it was actually perfectly good, im not just being biased) goal disallowed in the second half for a supposed foul on the keeper, which came prior to a Motors defender putting the ball in his own net. They did have their own opportunity to win it with a saved 1-on-1 in the dying moments, I would have been devastated had that gone in.

Shame about the crowd at about 120 was very poor seeing as we must of brought atleast 40, but they did have a very nice club house plus it meant the queue to the bar and bogs was hardly going to be long.

2-1 down in the 89th minute after a very below average display & the 1500 Dons at Horsham, were looking forward to our first league defeat since February 2003. Then a penalty equiliser taken by "Mr cool-cummber" himself, Robert Ursell & a scrambled injury time winner, from Richard Butler, sent us home very happy. :D :)
Will have to have plastic surgery to remove the grin on my face..

So how are AFC wimbledon gonna fare this season, by the sounds of it they won't have it as easy as last season, is it a similar team or they upgrade it for the new league.

Cambridge City 1 - 2 Weston-super-Mare

A brace from Marc McGregor sends the team most fancied to finish last to the heady heights of 4th!

Quality! :)

Our manager has already stated that the youth team and trialists will play in the Conference Cup.

One competition too many imo.

We started with a 2-2 draw with Northwich, the game was marred by possibly the most inept display of refereeing I have seen. One of our players was sent off for diving when he was clearly fouled in the area, there was audible contact and to top it off the Northwich bench commented "Oh Shit" as the tackle went in.

Needless to say the ref was being "assessed", guaranteed to make them fuck up.

*pokes head round door*

I believe that all officials one level below FL line/middle have an assessor at every game they do.

Eton Manor 2-5 Enfield Town.

Awesome, dazzling display from Town. Two main highlights: left-back Bernard Asiedu's run from deep in his own half, past the entire defence and the keeper, GOAL! Took shirt off in celebration and was booked by an apologetic ref, oh well. Ely Kitenge's goal was astounding - long throw to him, he teed it up three times with one foot and wellied it over the keeper into the far corner from way outside the box. 'Just like watching Brazil' etc. Fantastic, amazing scenes, much silly dancing.

Now for the FA Cup Extra-Preliminary round next week - bring on Leverstock Green! We'll have Arsenal in the 3rd round proper, I think. :D

Despite living in Brighton for past ten years I still support Slough Town, who now play in the Ryman Premier.
Despite being thrown out of Conference, a few seasons back and recently losing our ground we are still a pretty good supported club (we were taking 100+ to most away games last season, which if you think some of our opponents average about 50 at home that's quite a lot).
If i can't be bothered/can't afford to go to Slough i'll watch Lewes who are in the Conference South. And on Saturday i'm going to be watching Arundel in the extra preliminairy round of the FA Cup.
I love this level of footie, no cops (usually), cheap, drink throughout the game, change ends at half time, friendly (usually) and always a good laugh meeting up with the slough fans - some who travel from cambridge and matlock to get to games. And guess what, unlike that other premiership, its not bloody obvious whose gonna win our league this season.

Well we are hoping for 2 championships in a row. But although we won on Saturday against Horsham, we got a slight fright & could have very easily lost. We will most likely play better this season & lose.
On Saturday out of the starting 11 we had 5 players who started last season in the CCL. Our new manager from Hendon Utd, Dave Anderson has brought in a lot of new players & some of the stars from last season (Cooper & Oakins) have left. This caused some mumblings from the supporters, but the players Anderson has brought in are as good or even better than those who have left..

Crisis hits Weston-super-Mare

After the game, manager Frank Gregan reveals to fans that not only is his budget frozen (which means actuall 20% down) from last year, but he has to release up to four players, including one of Marc McGregor or Lee Jarman.

Gregan also says that he will not be renewing his contract next season (which is tragic for us).

Now we've exceeded expectation in the first three games, but the board don't believe the club is ready to go higher. Indeed when pointed out to them that we'd probably get relegated, one of them said 'so down we go'.

In addition, the board have said that should we finish high enough to go up or compete for a conference place via the play-offs, they will not sanction a move up into the conference due to increased costs.

Fans are livid.

I'm a member of YCST [York City Supporters Trust]. I really, really hope they manage to get back up.

Went to York City V Hereford at the weekend. Hereford won 3-0 and if York continue to perform as poorly as that they certainly will not be going up at the end of the season. Mind you, I was told they looked good against Telford the other day who are only a part time outfit, so maybe the standard of the opposition in the Conference will mean that they will end up being ok. I suspect Hereford will be in contention at the end of the season though, they narrowly missed out last season I believe & were pretty sharp on Saturday.

The attendance was 2,602 which I thought was pretty impressive too.

That is really shit news Flims, how blinkered are your board?
Mate, it's ridiculous. We were favourites to go down before this! I know you hate Jarman for nearly ending the career of your nippy CF, but we'd be fucked without him at the back. Same with Macca - up front - who's scored 4 in 3 games this year.

They don't care, lack ambition, and are happy as long as the club 'survives without needing any extra funds'.

I mean, we've gone up, and need to spend 20% less than our original budget last year - and last year we had more than that due to a Cup 2nd round/ Trophy 4th round place.

:(

Worksop Town 2-1 Hucknall Town :) :) :)

First win of the season, and against last years unibond prem. champions (they didn't even apply for promotion, so didnt go up!) First half we played amazingly but once again failed to capitalize, and went in 0-0, conceded early only in the second half, when Danny Bacon scored for them, after a scramble in the 18yrd box. They started to dominate, when against the run of play a cross from the right and centre-half Dudgeon headed right in the top corner. A deflected volley by Paul Dempsey gave us the 3 pts with 5 mins to go.
