(I think the idea is bollocks - what is a protest judged on, turnout, success the cause? If cause thn any anti-capitalist protest is more imprtant than the smaller issues, but to say seattle was more important than the black civil rights movement )
But surely some issues are of higher importance than others?
Whether the list can serve to do anything more than be a point of discussion still remains to be seen.
If it can act as a means of focusing attention on unresolved issues and rate them in importance compared to historical events then isn't that at least slightly pertinent?

I didn't think it was about listing them in order of importance.
I agree it's meaningless exercise. How can they possibly be put in order of importance?
But seeing as the bbc are looking for a list of ten, it does give scope to add some less obvious events that perhaps havent even seen their own potential yet(or something).
Which is why I thought of Seattle, as some pinpoint in history where opposition to globalisation/social-enviro degratation actually galvanised.
