Nokia N95 8GB, LG Viewty or SEK850i?

The Viewty interface is its stumbling block imo. All I can say about it is that I found the touchscreen not as good as a keypad for texting on, I find it very easy to mistype, they just aren't very...tactile.
Even the cleverest virtual keypad is no match for a decent hardware keyboard.

I know this might sound a bit strange, but I do have a legit reason (taking pics during rehearsels and performances) but can you take photos on any of these phones with no flash or light of any sort. I currently have an N73 and even if you disable the flash it lights up just before you take a picture.

Those with the n95, does it come with massive clump earphones? When I was looking at nokias lst year, the headset for the mp3/radio were these big things which wouldn't fit in my ear and I wasn't able to swap them for sony earphones because the socket was different. Mp3 and music will be the main use so:hmm:

It arrived today, yay! It is mahoosive, but I keep my phone in my handbag, not my pocket, anyway. @Jasoon - the headphones it came with are simple in-ear ones, but I bought a Bluetooth headset anyway.

Only problem is, it won't turn on. This is after charging for ages (and the charging tally only flashed on for a second). Hopefully it just needs even more time to charge.

Got it working by taking the battery and sim out for a bit and then restarting. Now my only problem is that the phone saves downloaded games into 'search: internet and my content,' rather than into 'Games,' as I niavely expected.

all the reviews i see say get the N82 instead of the N95! :D and now i balck looks cool .. though just seen today the 98 (?) will have 7mpg camera!!!!!!

Apologies complete n00be Q coming up :o . As ive never used the net on my phone, if i had an n95 contract phone, and used wifi in town etc (or at home wirelessly), I would be charged? How much? Can yyou just use it for hotmail, viewing web pages is poor? And if I d/l Route 66, Ive heard I would have to pay to use it, unless you d/l the maps to your pc and then onto the phone?
(sorry, ive only ever used a phone to call, text and listen to music in the past)
Any any places offering free consoles, etc if you take a contract out with them, I take it they don't like to shout about it.

You won't be charged for going online using wifi; you might be if you just use the phone to go online (it can do it all by itself), but you probably have a certain amount of free browsing included. Most webpages are OK, unless they've got really high graphics content, in which case they're slow to load.

No idea what Route66 is, but if it's maps and stuff, the N95 comes with some sort of maps system and GPS; I haven't had the need to use that on mine yet.

The places that offer free consoles definitely are shouting about it - it's just that you'd only get a free console with an N95 if you went a really high monthly tariff (with lots more inclusive minutes and texts and so on, of course).

thanks, so i could pretty much use the net unlimited from home or a wifi spot for free. because i read on one of the network sites about £15/month internet so wasnt sure. will hopefully be going to buy it on wednesday. :D

Went to various places, the n95 was only available on 2 networks, I think, one for 35pm and another 40 or 45pm. Carphonewarehouse are the only ones that do console offers, and they don't do it on the n95, but they do for the k850 and viewty, but you have to spend £150-200 or something like that on the handset, and there's a 6-8 week wait for the ps3.
Noone was able to reduce the tariff to 25 with free handset, I was pushing my luck, but worth a try. Wouldn't even go do 30pm. So just went with carphone warehouse and got it on o2 for 35pm which I'll obviously downgrade after 9months and all their handsets are unlocked. Didn't like the headphones as they're not proper in ear phones, so said I want some free phones thrown in .. blimey they drive a hard bargain they out 3 in front of me and were pushing me to take the cheapest ones ... but oh no I didn't ha ha :D
Anyway, is it 2 texts equivalent to 1 pic msg .. that's what they said, but I don't trust anyone that works in a phone shop so wanted to double check, plus what'sthe pin I first have to enter ... just waiting to get connection takes 2-24hrs
Then I asked myself why I need an n95, don't use the net, don;t have a car (yet) for gps, going to get a proper camera so a 3.2mp one would be sufficent to capture drunk momements, and all I use it for is radio/mp3 and 1 gb is sufficient for me ... oh well, just have to try get the most of it now

Sounds like you've probably got the same deal as me. I got them to throw in a free Bluetooth headset. :D It turns out that web browsing costs £1 per day on there, btw, no matter how long you spend on there that day; I might look into a bolt-on to make that cheaper.

I'm still trying to find the Spiderman 3 movie that's supposed to be on there, though.

I got some sennheiser earphones worth about 40 :D
So if I want to browse the net I have to pay .. but is it not free via wifi or something I thought it was.
Not sure I could watch films on there, may give it a try (I saw free spiderman movie offer on the net somewhere when I was just double checking last night)

It's free via wifi, yeah, but not free if you're accessing it another way.

Spiderman's supposed to be already on the phone, somewhere hidden. I've got a couple of videos on there, and they're quite watchable; the sound's good, too - not tinny like mobiles usually are.

Oh I see, so you have to pay for net if it's via their specific connection, but free if it's free in the 'air' :) I am but thick with technology ha ha:o
Might get a film on there .. will have to find some way of using up the 8gb :D I suppose the screen size is not too different to that of an iphone/touch

It's not the flash that lights up, it's a little light that finds the target and helps set focus. There's no way to disable that.

However, have a look on cnet for mobile reviews – some of the current cameras on phones don't have that little light. It makes taking photos in low light very awkward though because the camera doesn't know what to focus on.

I'm try to send a text to multiple people, but for the life of me, cannot do so. I have to apparently 'definine message centre number'? No idea what is, tried to manual but it's unclear, anyone know how, what etc:mad:
Also 'reply via same centre', 'no'?

How odd. I just stuck multiple names in.

I just found it is :

Pay Monthly +447802000332
Pay as you go +447802092035

then 'OK' (left softkey).

Then I guess 'reply to the same centre' should remain as 'no' otherwise people may reply to the above number instead of mine, I'm guessing.

When I went to send the text, it asked for a number. It wasn't in the manual, how odd. So I googled it and go the above fromthe nokia site and it appears to work as I also sent a text to my old number.
I am finding the phone hard to hold, I have small hands, and it feels 'bricky' (sp?) compared to my svelte k810. I dont like how the contact list is navigated by the surname, very business-like. Now I have to change it all. Oh dear, now I'm stuck with till it till about November 2009. Maybe I will grow to like it:hmm:

Do you know how to make the phone vibrate when ringing or receiving a text? I have it on silent, but can't find anywhere to get the phone to vibrate.

I did have an SE a few years ago where you could completely turn off the focus light. does anyone know if it is possible on the SE K850i or do all new phones have a focussing light?

Go to 'profiles' (fifth one along in the row of icons on the main interface), click on 'silent,' and click on 'personalise.'

You can also set it so that it will ring when a certain group or number calls in; I have it set so that, when I'm at work or somewhere else I want to be quiet, it'll be silent for everything else but will ring for my daughter's school or afterschool club.

Ah okay thanks scifisam, I'll soon get the hang of it :D;) Played about with the camera, thinkthe 3.2mp sonys are better, but all else seems fine. Connected to the web via wifi/wlan too. Also found out that it's 4 texts = 1 picture/video message.
