The new NOKIA android phone are based on the Android Open Source Project, they have all the google elements removed BUT they have been replaced by their own service's and Microsoft's.

Ah, ok, cheers. Sadly I have to go with what I've got which is either mending my n900, using this nexus4, or keeping phone functionality separate with my old E71

I get that but here's what the the facebook app wants, for example (amongst loads of other stuff):

- Read your text messages (SMS or MMS)
- Add or modify calendar events and send emails to guests without owner's knowledge
- Read calendar events plus confidential information
- Read call log, read your contacts, write call log

I'm not going to install it.

Use their mobile website then. You still benefit from the faster chip and better screen.
