No2EU - Yes to Democracy (EU Election Platform of TUists and Left Parties)

The euro is controlled by the European Central Bank (ECB) which dictates interest and exchange rates. These are two key levers which should instead be used by national governments to control their economies. Britain is in the penultimate stage to join the euro and has also carried out the criteria.

By obeying the strict criteria of the euro considerable damage has been done to the public sector. Control of economies in the eurozone is exercised by the EU Commission, Council of Ministers and ECB directly over national interests. The crisis is being used as an excuse to press for complete ratification of the Lisbon Treaty which would impose the euro on all member states.

Leading Europhiles like Denis MacShane and others claim that Britain should join the euro to help resolve the fiscal crisis. Ireland is being pressed to ratify the EU Constitution.
Cuts in public sector spending and the forcing down of wages continues and will worsen in any recession and be used to resolve the problems of bankers whilst workers are asked to tighten their belts.

OK, at the risk of provoling Dennisr's ire, I'll break my self-denying ordinance and give my views on the broadcast. It was mostly negative No-to-EU stuff. I only noted one or two positive proposals. Increase investment in public services. Renationalise the railways. Restore "our" fishing rights. Not very radical. In other words, the impression was given that a capitalist Britain outside the EU could somehow to be made to work in the interest of wage and salary earners and people on benefits and pensions. Not possible. The old Labour Party tried and failed miserably.
I also noted that the talking and the approach was dominated by the Morning Star people

Pity. We prefer you when you shut the fuck up.
I'm sure you do and, if you ever got to power, you would forcibly do this just as Lenin and Trotsky did with their critics. You don't fool me with your pretence at being in favour of democracy when in fact you are a manipulative vanguard that seeks to exploit any popular discontent to ride to power and establish your dictatorship over the proletariat just as the Bolsheviks did.
Hopefully No2EU will prove to be your Waterloo just as Respect was the SWP's. There'll never be a genuinely democratic workers movement in Britain unless Lenin, Trotsky and all their works are rejected. Every attempt to do so has failed because Leninist groups just move in and try to direct things for their own ends. Look at what happened to the SLP, the Socialist Alliance and Respect. But I think you'll find you've met your match if you try to take on the Stalinists of the Morning Star and the CPB. After all, they won last time.

You can rest assured that tedious idiots will remain free to spout shit on the internet under my benevolent rule.
Thanks. The trouble is I don't believe you insofar as you are a Trotskyist and Trotskyist politics is manipulative and deceptive (I've read both Trotsky's Their Morals and Ours and his The Transitional Programme).

You know as well as I do, that the No2EU's programme of a capitalist Britain outside the EU with a few minor reforms is a load of shite. You're just supporting it because you think this programme is popular amongst groups of workers who you've targetted and want to lead. It's a political scam.

I fully understand why you, Dennisr and others of your particular Trot tendency find being exposed as political scammers tedious, but think of it this way: every time I post something here against your list (or rather the CPB list you are supporting) it gets the thread to the top of the queue and is publicity for you.

If Irving lost the case against Lipstadt, how does he think he can pull this one off?

maybe he feels threatened?

I doesn't seem like a case he can win though.
Perhaps he just hates Reds>.
Lindsey Dispute may have rattled his furs, something that he most probably wanted to capitalise on but failed dismally.

Yes, that is my point - the BNP will have a much harder fight against a clear socialist programme which cuts across BJ4BW and all the other little englander shite. he recognises the competition

would not make any predictions at this stage - we'll see. we have placed ourselves in a position of influence if positive moves are made. i would think the key is the sort of discussions raised at the PCS conference as much as within the RMT. this is a long term thing
