No to 7% rent rises and no to privatisation in Lambeth!

I am sure that JC and JM are more than aware that being in the Labour Party makes them more liable to answers questions about what the Labour government is doing or Labour councils are doing than someone who is not in the Labour Party. Surely you'd recognise that?

Also if JC and JM started raising points about who RESPECT were standing in Lambeth without saying a word about the anti-working class attacks that the Labour Council is carrying out then I would say something.

Of course you would...

Oh no sorry it's not like you could have a dialogue with the mighty JM and JC! To be honest having met them I'm sure they'd be more than willing to be questioned about stuff.

I really can't understand why you find it so surprising that people are more likely to question you about what the Labour Party does when you're in the Labour Party! Or why people might find it surprising that you ask whether a RESPECT candidate is standing in Lambeth but seem to have nothing to say about a Labour Council that is every bit as bad as the Tories. Before you ask about RESPECT surely you might want to have a debate about the state of the Labour Party?

Yep, I'd imagine they would use the opportunity to explain the actions of the party they are part of - and their reasons for remaining in that party. I don't imagine they would hide behind the sort of smokescreen barry b seems to be putting up

Ive decided that I dont care what you think or say. Have a moan at someone else.

But anyway th eimprtant thing is to build the campaign locally- which is what CR and others are doing.

Let's have some mass demos and may be even a rent strike- that would be good.

My local authority has announced that rent increases for council house tenants are to rise by 5.8 percent. If the Government's 'Rent Restructuring Policy' had have been followed, then council rents would have had to be increased by 7.8 percent.

Each year the government takes a slice of rents received here for central use. Under the system known as 'negative subsidy', the council pay the government £46.4m per year out of council rent money collected, This is approximately £16 per tenant, per week.

If the council were able to keep this then the money could be re-invested in the current housing stock and the building of new council housing.
