NME defends Album Of Year Poll

I see they've gone for the most predictable token hip hop/dance act in the top 10. Presumably because "West raps about, y'know, real issues maaaan and hasn't raped his Mum like all the rest of them". ;)

Haven't read it for yonks. I was disturbed when MM went all Smash Hits and was worried that NME might do the same... guess it has.

Always read Swells stuff, he made me laff. :)

NME has been crap for as long as I can recall (since the start of the 90s).

What music needs right now, is a paper like MM used to be. If there was any decent new music that is, which is a far bigger problem in music-land.

Many of the great NME/MM hacks have either moved on to comparatively anodyne column writing in Radio Times, middle-of-the-road radio presentation or left journalism altogether. It's depressing, but I guess you can't live on a drowned island.

Removing Beck for high profile acts?

Beck is part of the interscope/geffen maffia..

...It all seems a bit unlikely.
That Beck made the poll in the first place with such a roundly shabby album is as much of a shock to me as anything...
