That brings the price up to around £220...to be honest Zelda isn't enough for me, if I really wanted it I could get it for the GC and save myself £180...
stevepinker said:Its overpriced its a litte more powerful than xbox1 amd its only £20 cheaper than xbox360 core ,Which has much more power packed into it
I think it should be £150 max
Bob Marleys Dad said:You're missing the point imo. They're all games consoles, the graphics can make a shite game look good but that's about it. All the Wii games I've seen gameplay vids of so far look like really good fun, the control method completely revolutionises the way the games are played. 10 pin Bowling, for instance, looks awesome. The sword fights in Red Steel look completely mad, you're not just pressing a button you hold the controller like the handle of the sword and have a sword fight like that, swinging away at your on screen opponent.
The cost difference between Japan (£111) The US (£130) and Europe (£180) is what pisses me off. I might buy a US one, they're out on 11th Nov.

mwgdrwg said:170 with a game isn't bad, don't over-react.
Xbox 360 with a game was twice that at launch.
Bob Marleys Dad said:Dec 8th release date - £179. That's with one game, so really the console is £140.
The package will contain the white console, one Wii-mote controller, the nunchuck attachment, and the game Wii Sports. In Europe, software will cost £34 to £39 (49 to 59 euros), and there will be 15 to 20 games available from launch. Among the confirmed launch titles are The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Need for Speed: Carbon, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz.
As for accessories, Wii owners will be able to buy extra remotes for £29 (39 euros), a nunchuck for £14 (19 euros), and the classic controller for £14 (19 euros).

Kid_Eternity said:"Game" oh you mean Wii Sports? I'll lay money it's about as much of a game as Luigis Mansion or that Fireworks one for the PS2 were...
Kid_Eternity said:It's not an over reaction. The xbox 360 isn't a slightly more powerful xbox. The Wii is really a rip off as it's not much more than a GC with a fancy controller...

LinkTraditionally consoles are subsidised by their manufacturers. With losses in console sales offset by profits made on software (in licenses from third-party publishers as well as direct sales of first-party games).
Not so, this time round for Nintendo. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told Reuters: "We will make a profit on the Wii out of the box hardware and software." Of course that presumably doesn't include research and development costs on the Wii. But it does explain the relatively high price to European consumers and the low power of the Wii's internal hardware.

agreed , im now starting to think sony are shooting themselves in the foot , the psp (even tho ive got one and love it ) isnt as popular as the DS and the PS3 is going to be so expensive that nintendo and microsoft are going to shoot them down

Cid said:Nintendo have a niche market and will probably do well, but their market share is unlikely to have too much of an impact on PS3/360 sales... The PS3 appeals as a multimedia console as well as being a 'simple' option (ie you are guaranteed some fucking brilliant racing games, football games, FPSs, RPGs and stuff like GTA as well as some more original titles like the MGS series). They also have a very devoted fan base - you can see this in the way the X-box 360 has been a relative flop... Fortunately Microsoft have the capital to make up any losses, but the x-box series doesn't have much life left in it unless they pull out some serious shit this christmas (which is always possible).

fen_boy said:I don't buy this multimedia console stuff for the PS3 - I can't see any 'gadgeteer' worth their salt who won't buy a better bluray (or one of the other better formats) player than the PS3 and everyone else isn't going to care.
Sony are still going to be producing the same old tired shit they always do, which for me are most of the games you cite as being great above, and charging people the earth for better graphics - it's boring.
Having said that my favourite games of the last year have been on ps2 - guitar hero, katamari and shadow of the colossus.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said:"Even Nintendo employees could not have imagined that five years later the market respond so quickly that we could sell millions of bathroom scales around the world."
