Night out in Aberdeen

I was in there more or less every night between 1993 and 1996.

What about Ma Camerons ? Is it still there ?

Ma's is still there I think. I'm suspecting a few of us have been in the same pubs on the same nights totally unknown to each other :D

Ok, who was bodach, anyone know? Just noticed the banned tagline.

Ended up in Drummonds, had a fantastic night dancing to a couple of ska bands. Thanks everyone!

AKA Ska?

If so, those were some of my mates! :D

I was thinking on going down with the camera as well but that night, I was just too tired (still feeling a wee bit grotty after all that recent dental work). :(

Another night in Drummonds. They always go to town on the halloween gig. :)

Glad you had a good night!

What about Ma Camerons ? Is it still there ? Plus that little club upstairs.. that was a blast :D

Ma's is there, thriving & although it has changed hands recently, you would recognise it.

The new owner seems to have a slightly shorter memory for folk banned than the old one. They also changed the gents & ladies bogs round during the renovation, which was a bit confusing for a while.

Sure you are not thinking of O'Neills for the upstairs club? That too is much the same.

Bloody board wobbles! :p :o

Have I been banned from this thread or something, none of the new posts are showing-up!

ETA:

Even odder, the post before this is #50, but this shows-up as number 84?

I've never been. I tend to make a beeline for the real ale pubs.

Ma's used to be a not unreasonable real ale pub & was one of the first/main supporters our late-lamented Devhana Brewery. I think even today it usually has a few reasonable ales on tap. Maybe you have to fight your way into the snug now? That has been left pretty much unchanged.

I don't go in very often, Its not one of the ones I've said never again to but too many memories/past people etc. Usually only if nights out meet/pass through there. Think maybe two or three times in as many years?

Maybe I'll have a look next time I'm in Aberdeen. :)

I'll probably be near there later today so I'll try & spin through & see what they are selling now.

Although the new owners have done the kitch olde-worldie thing with the 70s lounge extension at the back, it is to their credit that they kept the snug & front bar much the same as ever. Just gave it a lick of paint. These bars are as much of an Aberdeen institution as the Prince. :)

Circular from Flash at the Moorings this morning:

On Saturday we heard that we had been awarded 'City Pub of the Year 2008' by the Aberdeenshire branch of CAMRA (campaign for real ale).

The overall winner for Aberdeenshire was The Marine Hotel in Stonehaven which is an excellent place and well worth checking out. They have a great selecti0on of beers in particular and the food is very good.

Previous winners of CPOTY include The Prince of Wales, Old Blackfriars, and Carriages.

This is the first time in anyones memory that The Moorings has won a CAMRA award.

:)
