Nicky Cruz/TRUCE Gig "Un-Banned" At Police Insistence?

Thought I recognised that name, Penny Thompson: she used to be Sheffields director of social services, up the greasy pole heh?

We reopened an old school for the Kosovans in a largely comfortable, middle-class area," says Penny Thompson, the city's director of social services, who expected "nimbyism" and so organised a major leafleting and PR drive. "Instead, we were overwhelmed with neighbours saying: 'Right, what can we do to help?' Managing so many offers was almost as much of a challenge as looking after the Kosovans."

but if you are gay, you do tend to automatically commit homophobic acts. The ONLy reason why he drew the distinction is the same ones xtian groups in colleges do it to preserve their funding; so they can argue 'hate the sin, love the sinner'. And it's balls. put yourselves in a gay man's shoes; this is someone describing something crucial to his very being - his expressed and explored sexuality - as 'evil'.
How would you view that, if you were gay?
I've been thinking about what you've said, and you have a point of course. I think christians should always be mindful that what they say can and does really hurt people. 'Hate the sin, love the sinner' needs to be a reality, not a motto.

The only analogy I could think of so far would be the attitude that moderate vegetarians have towards those who eat meat. I love eating meat, it is part of who I am, and yet I know many people who for one reason or another think that eating meat is 'evil'. They do not hate/dispise/discriminate against meat eaters, they just think that eating meat is wrong. I can accept that, even though I strongly disagree with them.

Of course there is a big difference - there has been a lot of very nasty persecution of homosexuals and the church has a lot to answer for.
