hard luck mate, the journey we had was pretty awful but we did make it.
we got to victoria at 4pm, nipped in for a quick pint and wait for the train at 32 minutes past. i took a few sips, looked over at the departure board and an announcement says its cancelled. we necked our pints sharpish, jumped on a packed portsmouth train and spent 90 minutes getting to gatwick. broken rail at purley apparently (how can one broken rail on one line bring the whole of the south-east train service is a mystery to me).
I phoned our pal in brighton and asked him to check how/whether trains were running from gatwick to brighton. he called back and said there should be about 4 an hour, so we jumped off at gatwick and luckily a lewes service arrived about 10 minutes later. only just managed to squeeze onto this and had a squashed 40 minutes until we reached brighton.
you might want to look away at this point cesare. cos the gig was a brilliant, could have gone on all night and i wouldn't have moaned. very very tight musically, nick cave was possessed and really looking like he was having a ball, they did tupelo and the mercy seat

plus a good few from recent bad seeds releases. a very very slick but electricifying set overall, well worth the earlier hassle.
even the fact that our tickets were right at the back in the seated balcony - which was bollocks that, we bought ours ~3 months ago, a friend buys a ticket on thursday and was further forward than us, and you could buy walk-up standing tickets on the door on the night but they wouldn't let you exchange the ones we'd bought for those either. ah well, lot of bother but i'm glad we persisted in the end.
