Nice Lamborghini Car For $1.8 Million For Sale

Maybe I'm getting older these days, and do appreciate them more than I used to.

Bet you don't like Jensens or Facel Vegas either! :p

Have a look at this Jensen just purchased by a member of the pistonheads forum, it is absolutely immaculate and was owned by a member of the jensen owners club.

You'll like this Griff, pure car porn:

ETA: more pics on page 2, it even has a dictaphone!! 70's cool :)

LOLZA!

That Reventon is beautiful, though ridiculously priced.

And there's a silver Saleen bombing around the A3 between Tolworth and Wandsworth... rather nice it is too, though it looks a bit like the new shape Mustangs.

But looking at that thread I noticed this:

What the fuck:eek:

That is criminal to do that to one of those cars. I remember my uncle having a Jensen Interceptor in the mid-80's, he pulled onto our drive and leapt out of the car with steam pouring from under the bonnet.

The rad cap blew off with such force it smashed straight through the bonnet

He was gutted :D

ETA: The curved rear windscreen was and still is one of my favourite things about that car, stunning but wallet-fuckingly expensive to replace!!

This what we had a wedding car when we got married, a 1960 Facel Vega HK500. 6.3 V8, a kind of French Bristol or Jensen. Loved them from an early age.
Even bought Martin Buckley's ridculously expensive book on them last year.

Bet bees hates it. :D

Any idea why, incidentally? Just because he's a clown, or is there some backstory? I love a good old rant about Clarkson on a Friday aft'noon.

Clarkson reviewed a Bristol, wasn't particularily impressed by it. Bristol owner took it personally.

That is the absolute bollocks of a wedding car.. stunning choice.

I saw a car last week that was more beautiful that that though (in my eyes). Was in Loughton (Essex) and some guy turned up at the pub in an original Mercedes gullwing. Really nice bloke who had just stopped for a pint and was happy to let a load of blokes sit in his car and even took some of us for a spin around the block.

Fantastic thing although even though the steering wheel pivots to get in and out a few acrobatics are needed!!

<Note to self: Lose a few lbs>

Fantastic looking, but as a car it'll be shite.

I just don't understand people's obsession with "classic" cars. Yes, they all look lovely, but almost without exception they handle like shit, are dog slow, and will break down every five and a half miles :p

Edit to add - That car would be a prime candidate for being sorted out - It looks brilliant, so give it a decent engine, modern brakes and suspension and you'd have a wonderful car :)

Funny you say that, when I had the shop in Epping I'd quite often see a convoy of 300SL Gullwings and Roadsters going through the High Street.

Ultimate cool, although the bloke I was chatting to with the 2 Bugattis the other week took some beating. A garage in the centre of Saffron Walden with about £7m worth of two old cars. He was really happy to show me the engines and stuff.

I couldn't speak to me missus for about 15 minutes. :D

But that's sensible - if you like the looks, then why not make it reliable?

There's loads of companies that will take 60s/70s cars (E-Types, Aston Martins etc) and replace all the shitty engineering with good stuff :)

But that Interceptor is shit.

Absolutely, JD Classics in Chelmsford will do an amazing job putting a modern supercharged Jag engine in a MKII, and it'll cost an absolute fortune to buy.

Cheers. :)

What! £7m in a barn, what the hell were they?!?

Not Type 35 surely?

2 of them in a garage. Yes, 2 road registered Type 35s. With Grand Prix history.

French Racing Blue.

I thought it must have been some sort of Alfa kit, so I walked over to have a look, then saw the other one.

It really was one of those car moments. :D

Shitting hell, I may have just come in my undercrackers

<apologies to any non-car fans>

In a barn?!? Does he use them at all?

In a barn?!? Does he use them at all?

A very secure garage. :D

Yep, he does use them but he said he was bored with the whole Coys Silverstone/Goodwood scene as he thought it had gone a bit 'corporate'.

He's had them for 18 years, which wouldn't have been cheap to buy then. He also said he'd willed them to his son, so maybe he's had them handed down over the years, so the actual value of them had passed him by.

I did see him on my way back from work in a village near us last year, and just dismissed it as being a kit of some sort.

He also said they are pretty damn quick considering they're 80 years old. :D

Good for you, that's got true class. Only trouble is, Albert Camus met his death in one if I remember right.

Except that it's made by Carroll Shelby, a legend in the world of American muscle cars. Good luick to him.

Oh lordy, you've done it now, possibly my all-time dream car (along with the F40).

Stunning (maybe without the "GOODYEAR" tyres though)

Wow, did you ask if he wanted to adopt another son? :D

I do sometimes go past some places in Essex and see these run down massive houses and garages, can't help but wonder what lurks inside.

Your post proves to me that this dream is worthwhile!!

Funny thing is, this was a small unassuming cul-de-sac in the centre of town! :D

Bloody hell, I see what you mean about it being one of those "car moments".

HAve to pop out for a while now, this thread has inspired me to not take the easy option and jump in the car, but to get on the R1 and have a little pootle (:)) the long way round to fully enjoy the summer evening.

Cheers all, back in an hour or so.

Now that's what I call a mobile office....
Reason, I think the Interceptor depicted was the Dictator model, "designed for the dynamic executive on the move", as Jensen decribed it at the time.
I think it also had a in car telephone, which was extremely rare at the time, unlike now.
