Nfl

You should try watching the whole games. It starts to make more sense when you think of the maxim that football is a 'battle of inches'. It's all a strategy to get and maintain good field position against a group of eleven guys who want to fuck up your field position any way they can.

I always imagined NFL and Baseball would be good fun to make a day of with your friends cos you could sit and drink beer and talk shit and have the game on in the background, but sitting watching the same game for 6 hours without distractions would get really boring

most games are 2.5 to 3 hrs long and the only reason i watch is so that i don't miss that one incredible game out of 25 :p

You'll get no sympathy from me when it comes to baseball. I'm an Orioles fan; i know what losing is all about. The O's haven't had a season over .500 in 10 years.

yea well the Det Lions have only had ONE playoff win in 50+ years....top that. :)

The last 2 Monday night games have been quite exceptional, Dallas and Philly was a close game and this week's thrashing of the Jets by the Chargers was great to watch.

I'm off to see Chargers v Saints at Wembley next month so am wathcing both teams with interest.

Well, at least you can be completely certain that they won't lose this weekend. :)

You know, I still wouldn't put it past the Lions... ;-)

I hear rumours of Millen being fired. Clearing his office apparantly. That might be a start.

Yes, I know how that feels! It could be worse - I remember 2003...

don't even talk to me about those perennial loser...i'm so sick of their bullshit. god damn fucking shit piss!!!

Matt Millen got fired. Finally. It's baffling how that man was employed for so long.

And Isitme, I'd say you £5 is as good as gone. I'm a Niners fan, we've looked good, but only because we've played two poor teams and one that was really hurting. If the Niners were Superbowl material, they'd have pwned Seattle. That said, the Niners have a good shot at making the playoffs if they can take 2 from the next 4. After that they still have two games with the Rams, who are just about the only team worse than Detroit, and a home encounter with the Seahawks. It's quite possible that the team that wins the NFC West could finish with a 9-7 or even 8-8 record.

its confirmed, just looked at detroit news website. thank god that incompetent dickhead is gone.

So, who is the smart money on this year?

After all, few would have given the Giants much of a chance. Somehow it was great to see them thwart the nearly perfect Patriots.

I don't think it's that as much as he's someone who got roped into a sucker bet.

Well, it's a 200/1 shot. And if you look at the form books, in the last ten years there are a couple of teams that turned it around from having a high draft pick to being in the superbowl the next year, the Rams and the Panthers, I think Green Bay were 4-12 in 06 and were only a stupid Brett Favre pass away from the Superbowl last season. The NFL is a really interesting sport to follow because things like that can and do happen.

But I can't see the Niners doing it. I just can't.

I backed the Giants :D

It should be an interesting season, as the top two teams of the last 5 years Indy and New England, are suffering from injury problems. New England's QB Tom Brady is out for the year and their back up isn't very good. They got beaten up pretty badly by Miami last week. Manning started the season injured for Indy, but worse they lost several offensive lineman, and it's apparent in Manning's play. They should get better as the season wears on.

I'd say right now, you'd probably get good odds on Seattle, as they've been hampered by injury so far, but they're usually in the playoffs, so if they can make a late run they've got the quality to stick it out with the other playoff teams. The Saints are another with a bad start that have a decent chance. The Chargers have had two really unlucky losses, but they look like a good team. If you want a real dark horse, a name that's not on anyone's lips for glory right now, the Tennessee Titans may be the team.

For a more obvious choice, the Cowboys are clearly the best team in the league right now, followed by the Eagles and Broncos.

Baseball used to be a good way to spend hungover saturday afternoons.

Not at the stadium: on the couch, with the tv on.

Well I just half watched all the points in the 49ers v Saints game and the Saints looked fucking awesome, or 49ers were really shit

American football is a very simple game that we make really complicated with fancy plays and such. The team that blocks better, tackles well and avoids turning the ball over will generally win. The 49ers blocking was fucking abysmal and so it's no surprise the Saints D got in the QBs face almost every play. And tbh, the Saints are pretty special on offense.

it was the offence that got me, cos the 49ers looked pretty good in the last two games, but the saints were just popping passes into touchdown from further than i could throw it and the running backs were just jumping over the line and stuff
