Not going to watch the Newsnight, but it would be nice to see the system get the kicking it so richly deserves (given that it facilitiates criminality, seemingly only deports those people who are actually claiming asylum, and is massively and needlessly long-winded and overbureaucratic). Those are the reasons why the likes of the BNP, and other racists, are able to use it to their advantage.

I am pretty sure that the debate will conclude that immigration is either a national scandal that is undermining everything we hold dear, or that it is turning Britain into a magical happy wonderland of diversity. I mean, it's got to be one of those.

The bit I heard certainly swung between those POVs.

They didn't really answer the Immigration Watch guy about his figures relating to 6 billion added to the economy. Which as he had it. Was only proportionaal to the numbers of migrant workers in question. Well an answer was offered. but it was a bit fluffy.
