These figures are 4 years old. The Muslim proportion of the population of Royal Docks ward is likely to have increased.

Have Newham Labour Party completed their selection process for candidates for next years council elections? If so did Ruiz stand for selection and if so was she selected? And for which ward?

And I would really encourage anyone with forensic accountancy skills to do some digging amongst the detritus of the Stratford Circus accounts. Newham Council closed down the Tom Allen Centre which was a superb community arts centre with a bar and hireable community space which was responsive to local needs, sold the building to a group of extremist Christians to use as a church, used the money saved from cutting funding to Tom Allen Centre, Theatre Venture and other groups which had a long standing and much respected presence in the borough and used the money <allegedly> to plug the gaps in the finances caused by forgetting to include running as well as capital costs in the Stratford Circus's Lottery Application -stupid, as well as the debacle caused by Councillor *** *****'s ignorance of basic charity law over the millenium festival.

Stratford Circus is a glorious architectural wank project designed to stoke the egos of certain councillors and council officers. The project was doomed from the start because they attempted to attract big names like Courtney Pine but they didn't put enough seats in the auditorium to allow such events to pay for themselves so the venue is always going to run at a loss. They only found thhis out when they booked Mr Pine anbd they totted up the box office reciepts allegedly

The Labour group on Newham has attempted to hoover up opposition when ever it occurs Alec Kellaway was a lib dem but switched sides. Last time I looked which was about a year ago the only opposition councillor was a bloke from a community party.

And then you have the issue of the 'plauge crosses' on peoples houses. In an effort to destroy the remnants of the working class community in Custom House Newham property officers went round painting marks on peoples front gates to note the properties that were going to be compulsorarily purchased to make way for yuppie flats and hotels and other stuff that will probably mean lots of 'consultancy fees' for various local bigwigs.

Mess with Newham and it''s political cast offs at your peril.

Newham is a very very strange place politically which is why even though I have a problemwith the swappies an dtheir front vehicle I am willing to say be careful.
