New Zealand vs. England 3rd Test

good old southee though. 9 sixes!

great test all round well done england. fitting that sidey took the final wicket.

not the best standard of cricket but a good little series! interesting to the end

 @ all the people on here who honestly suggested we were throwing it away at various points in the Test

I think thats possibly due to the fact that England are er, quite good at throwing away winning positions? :p

there were some frankly idiotic comments earlier in the thread though, ones that seemed to betray no understanding of the ebb and flow of a five day Test match

To be fair, it had ebbed quite a long way at lunch on day 2.

Happy we won our first away overall series win since 2005, but you could clearly see at times why we are where we are in the world rankings. And some of the decisions made by the management of the team were really strange. Having said that, i think we'll convincingly win the next series against new zealand in england not so sure in the one against south africa, was watching them earlier v india, and even though that is a very good batting pitch, they do have a very strong line up.

And the whole series was back and forth every session almost. Both teams had the ability to get themselves back into the match at some stage. And then that southee at the end was a bit unreal. Not what you 'normally' see at the end of a test match, which was making me worried.

Probably 5th is about right, although Pakistan in 6th will probably disagree...

... but we are only 1 pt behind SA & SL, India being 3 points ahead, my guess is that we are likely to go down (in gap if not places) before we go up...

He had a real chance at the fastest test century. And England stopped trying to get him out and were playing one-day tactics to contain him, which is rather extraordinary with a lead of 150-odd and nine down. And his first six balls were dots too! I've never seen anything like that. A number 10 of all things.
