New Year's Eve 2008-2009

headfuk was a real dissapointment :(

Absolutely packed with scum, really not seen such a high concentration of them at a party for ages. And very few of the young, shiney ppl i have seen at the last few london parties.

The door was just fucked, no one was queing properly, just a big scrum and the pissed dude yelling contradictory instructions (apparently the door crew) waas only encouraging people to try and push through. If you queued and didn't push you were rewarded with a stand in the cold for 3 hours, but ppl who just ignored the door crew and climbed over were let in. At one point some evil bastard decided he was part of the door crew and started hitting us with the gate. Yep. Even though he wasn't even that big nothing was done about him. You just go the usual impression of well meaning crusties totally overwhelmed by feral scallies and life in general. There were only 100 ppl queing but they were acting like it was a crisis.

I mean i can see myself in exactly the same predicament, but really for an NYE party when i was fairly sure bastards would turn up, i'd hire professional security or just make sure there were more of them.

The music... i can hardly blame them for sticking to there music policy of breakcore and bass based oddness. I enjoyed the more contemporary (i.e., not jungle) DnB and really loved the morning dubstep upstairs tho :)

Overall, wish i'd been a bit more prepared for a sketchier, more trad party. The last 2 huuuuuge parties have just been so good.

Hmm, the door was fucked, but I only ended up queuing for about 35minutes, the sketchy-cunt content was relatively low I thought, only 2 people tried give me any aggro- one of the twitchy idiots dealing in the stairwell outside the "toilets", and some dick who pulled my hair on the way in to the room upstairs, both of whom dropped it as soon as I looked them in the eye, it's not like I'm big or scary, pussies, lol. None of my friends got themselves into any trouble, which was impressive, I thought.
But, yeah the organisation wasn't incredible. I go to all the wrong parties, clearly, because it just didn't seem that bad to me.

Why? Is everyone so musically conservative these days that D&B, House and Techno never appear on the same billing? For shame, was always the way of things when I was a wee raver of 18 - you'd ALWAYS get a house room, techno room and D&B/Hardcore room...

not everyone is :p have all three just on one system :)

the problem with proper security on NYE is how much they want paying- for parties of that order you're talking 4-5 guys who'll probably want 2-300 a piece.

i heard that it ended early morning coz something really bad happened, i walked away when i got there just coz i couldn't be arsed to queue. Reading all this glad didn't try and get in, had a total feeling of wanting bed.

Edited to add, they stupidly advertised it on squatjuice so what do they expect ?

Circo Loco was amazing, never really felt packed in there even though they said it was one in one out. Music was amazing, Clive Henry was class.

I thought that was what they got paid regularly anyway...

Reagrdless, they can be volunteers, just just need to be well briefed and sober. Believe it or not i have been on the door a squat party, and as we were numerous and sober things were fine. To start with. The problems arrived when we realised that we had no brief from the orgnaisers, no real role outlined etc etc.

I'd imagine that for soundsystems who often know a lot of the moddy crews and evildoers personally, the message we'd have got on the door would have been even more mixed.

The door crew needs to know what its there for. Are people queing up - if so where? How many in at a time? What to do when the cops show. etc.

:D @ the image of Tax kicking Ginge out of a rave :D

the door on NYE was a bit piss poor, i managed to see hardly any bother all night, guess cos i was in front of speakers most of the time.

i was quite surprised to see so many of the usual suspects at this party though, maybe cos the big techno party didn't happen early on was a cause, or it being in the middle of hackney. shame really.

Really enjoyed Headfuk. Bit disappointed at there only being 3 rooms, not really anything special about it, which you'd kind of expect for NYE.

Didn't really see any trouble, nothing out of the ordinary anyway, this is a London squat party remember.

Enjoyed it, caught up with loads of people, and from what I hear from speaking to people who went to the other party, I made the right choice.

And yeah, it did get shut down quite early for some reason, but then started up again, sadly after a lot of people had fucked off, but more fool them I spose.

I had a brilliant night at Hedfuk. I was totally oblivious to the trouble and was horrified to hear about it the next day. I thought they really made an effort with the decor and I thought the music was really good. I saw loads of old faces there which was realy nice too.

I was meant to be going to see 2manydjs but the tickets never came and my friend never checked her emails properly.

So instead we took too much k, went outside and forgot why we were out there, tried to get back in but the door seemed to be broken shut, tried to break it down which we now realise is impossible, so we thought 'fuck it we're out we'll stay out' and planned to go to Matter to explain the ticket thing.

Walked scared and confused to the tube. On the journey had a weird battle with some young boys and felt like we were in 8 Mile 'Oh no you didn't!' style.

Drew a star on a man's face.

Got to Matter. That o2 place is like a fucking airport and everyone there was really faketanned and scary. Walked a hundred million miles and got turned away so went back home, realised we had double locked the door but forgotten earlier and got in.

Did more K and watched Mamma Mia.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

while everyone else was getting stabbed up in hackney i was whoring my soundsystem out to a masked NYE ball in a tiny bar on stamford hill. good vibe, good music, locked in from 3, fed free rum by the owner, made new friends, danced with old friends, given over an hour of peak time to play which was completely unexpected- i was even paid for it!

it were fucking great :cool::D

Glad I went to Congo Natty at the Jamm, a blinding night with King Tubby's sound system in the bar. Was planning to go to Headfuk after, got a text saying 'don't come' but ignored it and got there about 8am, saw some mates although a lot had left due to the bad tings.

oh come on mate. Clearly it was a nasty party.

1) you aren't the kind of person that gets hassle

2) you wouldn't probably remember it :p

I would not say that it was clearly a nasty party, no.

Maybe someone who is the kind of person who gets hassle & remembers it might think every London squat party they go to of this type is a nasty party. Shit happens at these things.

london squat party in different people experience different things shocker ;)

a load of my mates tried to get in at about 4, apparently there was a huge argument between "security" types at this point and they were basically told that they weren't letting people in. they hung about drinking in the street thinking they might get in at some point, saw someone get in, saw them leave a minute later covered in blood and decided they were better off drinking in a mates place... which they did :D

shit does happen at squat parties but it doesn't have to.

I got in at 04.00.am but the security were having to keep people outside the gates so they could manage the number of people going in through the door of the party.

The trouble was unfortunate for Hedfuk. The only way of dealing with the trouble would have been to switch everything off and close the party down.

This was happening when I got there at probably around 12:30ish.

Glad I didn't go to headfuk tbh..I wanted too,but it was overpublicised (on here, facebook, got multiple texts about it and flyers) and only 2 rooms..
