New V!

Apparently they've signed up Marc Singer to appear in series 2. He played Mike Donovan in the original.

Anyone see episode 2.1 and what did you think - I thought it was fast moving and seemed to have picked up a bit though that might be just because it's the opening episode.

Should we box spoilers?

I'm really confused. I was watching it last year and it stopped at a really odd place. Was that a full series or have the started it again or what?

And that's a bad thing why?

It doesn't have JR in it

Season One had twelve episodes and ended when Erica destroyed Anna's soldier eggs, there's a massive fleet of Visitor ships waiting in space and Earth's skies turn blood red.

Season Two began last week (in the States - I watched it on a streaming site) I have no idea when it's scheduled to be shown here.

Those who liked the original series keep watching.

I sure as hell hope it improves, because the first series was under-whelming. The underground were too weak, the visitors too strong, and I couldn't really 'get' into any of the characters.

No, because I don't remember the ending.

Wasn't it like Alien Nation and you never got to see how it ended? I'm still angry about that. Maybe they'll remake that :D

There was V, V: The Final Battle (I took that to be the 'proper' ending), and then some sort of weekly serial which I think most people agreed was crap and gave up on. V & The Final Battle are worth owning.

I'm sure Michael Ironside was in the series wasn't he?

Watch the opening credits, Mike Donovan clearly uses a teabagging manoeuvre to kick a V arse.

Ironside was in The Final Battle and some of the weekly series, which he left about partway through.

Nah, The Final Battle was pretty crap too, not by the series standards, but it was a big fall in quality from the original mini-series. The network took over after the first series and changed it from the planned arc. The creator wanted V to run for years (maybe a couple of decades) as an annual/bi-annual mini-series detailing a long-term occupation showing how the general populace would go along with their oppressors.

Yeah, The Final Battle wasn't as good as the first one, but not watching The Final Battle would leave you without a conclusion. Plus I think Michael Ironside isn't in it until The Final Battle (and he continued on into the series).

Oh, as much as I enjoy the new V, can I just say it contains the worst use of a Sigur Ros track ever?

I can't remember what order things came in, it was decades ago, but it definitely picked up when Michael Ironside appeared!

We're getting a worrying insight into your ideal man here Minnie. Right wing mercenary a-moral sociopath.

And bald.

My favourite thing about Michael Ironside is that he's a loyal friend. The guy in The Final Battle and weekly series who played his partner, Chris Farber, is his real life best friend, Mickey Jones. Ironside nearly always gets him a small part in the movies he's in. He's the miner on the Mars shuttle pod as Arnie escapes from the spaceport on Total Recall for example.
