New Tube map omits Thames and zones

Oh.

This shows the kind of thing that happens when I stage a two week boycott. People try and change things when I'm not looking and think I won't notice when I get back.

I can't find another thread on it though.

they issued a new map, without the zones or the river, there was a bit of a to do about it last week in the papers and that, apparently they will be re-introducing the zones and the river to the maps by xmas

pretty stupid, no zones, how the hell are we supposed to know what to pay? or if we are straying
utside a zone

The no zones thing is absolutely ridiculous, how that ever got to the printing stage beggars belief. Surely by law there has to be a clear display of pricing policy before you buy a ticket and the zones are integral to that.

i'm starting to worry about myself as i actively try to help people confused by the ticketing system and the maps at tube stations. why don't tfl have floating staff? i've seen so many people buy £4 singles recently. sigh.

I have reason to suspect that threads have been merged by someone without proper mod ID on display. I demand an enquiry.

not at heathrow last friday morning. flight from sydney and one from new york. tons of lost people. i think they need people standing near the ticket machines.

i know i know. off topicness. badness. i just meant that the new maps are even more confusing for people trying to decide which zones they need.

I think we should replace the river with a horizontal line half way through the milk bottle and call everything above it north london and everything below it south london.

Sure isint it that the case if you dont have enough you just go into a negative balance?

Providing you have enough money on your oyster to make the cheapest journey available from the tube station you are entering at you can enter. Where you go after that is up to you. If your balance doesn't cover the journey you will go into negative balance when you exit. Next time you try and enter a station outside the one covered by your travelcard if you have one you will be stopped and have to recharge your pay as you go*.

*or sneak through on someone elses.

There have always been tons of jetlagged confusified people at Heathrow 1, 2, 3. It's one of the least thought-through stations on the network.
