New Shopping Centre in Victoria Street

I work on Victoria Street - it's really good actually having a few shops now and a few new bars - the Tapas bar is good for afterwork drinks..........they are gonna have an outdoor ice rink this winter so that should be fun too.

Where?

Might go and have a look at this. I was brought up just round the corner and went to primary school on Victoria Street - it's always been a horrible place so I very much doubt this could be worse than what was there - from those pictures it looks like it could be ok-ish...

I think the ice rink is on top of the flat roof of M&S - IIRC they were required to provide a roof garden as new publicly accessible "open space" to compensate for building over most of Stag Place (the previous windswept square dominated by the tower blocks).

Don't think that's open to the public yet. Could be wrong though

Quick Google suggests the rink opens 12 Dec with tickets £9.50 for an hour. Given that much of the surrounding stuff is still a building site, I don't see how it's going to rival Rockefeller Center for classy skating.

Streatham Ice Rink looks much better value. :)

Is that still there? Are they still building a Tesco?

They should knock down all ice rinks, cos I can't do it. I went to the one in Lea Valley, and kept falling on my arse. It really hurts!

Streatham rink is still there - getting a lick of paint as we speak to compete with all of these seasonal open air rinks only open over the Christmas holidays.

AFAIK, under a planning deal to prevent a repetition of the Richmond rink fiasco, the Tesco's can't be built until a new Ice Rink has been finished on the site of the former Streatham bus garage.
