If we're doing recent reggae cops... I got a Near Mint 7" copy of this... Heavy, heavy roots music
Thanks for the recommendation ska invita - really liking Al Breadwinner.
Haha you've bought the whole discography! really glad you like it cn!
Yeah I got Dubs Unlimited for my birthday and enjoyed it so much I wanted more!!
Did you get the vinyl or the cd of dubs unlimited?
All vinyl - which takes my vinyl reggae/ dub reggae record collection up to the grand total of about 4! But I've taken the plunge now, I'll be getting techno and reggae vinyl from now on, I reckon!
The vinyl has better mixes than the cd, but if you are interested in hearing some alternate more striped down versions let me know and I'll send you the files... Nice to have the complete set!
First new tunes for a while...!
Loose Joints - Is It All Over My Face (I think I might already have this, but I can't remember - I don't mind having two copies )
Richie Rich - Salsa House
Cheryl Lynn - Got to be Real
v/a - 80's Groove Anthems - what a fucking bargain! £2 for a 6 tracker, containing Keni Burke's Rising to the Top, D-Train - You're the One For Me, some Patrice Rushden, Isley Brothers and two others I don't know
Pyschotropic - Hypnosis
Less than £20 for the lot. Happy with that
you do i remember you posting about it
picked this up in Beckenham's Wanted records recently 92 hardcore jungle
I've actually got it three times now
on the plus side a three-deck DMC-style all over my face routine is now on the cards
I don't even have decks
Just bagged the UK Trojan issue of this - astonishing, oceans-deep spiritual roots - the YouTube clip is for the full LP if you've never heard it...
funnily enough just came across this a couple of weeks back looking for something else and played it on youtube - really unique record
Picked up the Chariots of Fire soundtrack at lunchtime for a pound
Love this tune! ^^
I need to play my vinyl more..... I rarely get round to it
Does this qualify for one of the weirdest mixes? Bought while trawling records shops of Brighton on Saturday;
Starting with the obvious bits and working backwards;
Metallica: Some Kind of Monster
Machine Head: Bloodstone and Diamonds & The Blackening
Cyprus hill: Hits from the Bong and Stoned Raiders
Jeff Wayne: War of the Worlds
Tom Leiber: in concert
Next on the list is Bill Bailey In Metal & KRS one Return of Boom Rap
Bought this box set at a pleasingly cheap price for my wife
Last Friday the dj gave me a copy of
Got a decent record deck at last, so have been recently buying far too many records for my own good
Since posting the above I have accidentally purchased another
Wilder by the teardrop explodes.
Bah, I would have loved that as a teen. Could have been chewing on all that for 30 years.
are you sure you didnt do the old buying "for my wife / aka for myself number?
amazing tunes the lot of them
My wife's worse than me - she's sitting opposite working her way through someone's Ebay list and is so far bidding on half a dozen tunes
dont forget discogs
that bad coniditons tune is a killer - you got given that did you?
Last year my wife came home from visiting an old friend with half a dozen 7"s and an unexpected but very welcome conversion to my point of view. Only took just under 25 years. No longer do I have to restrict my buying to random charity shop and car boot bargains. She now gets that Cameo-Parkway releases should always take priority over council tax demands Next thing I know she's being asked to do sets at local nights and is putting on dos of her own
The Lloyd Price is a great over looked tune - bang on the money for the young Northern Soul crowd who are turning up all sorts of great funky soul at the moment. Only really knew Love Music by him before. The DJ gave me a copy as I liked it so much. Later in the evening I saw him taking it back off my wife. Oh well Then he returned it properly packaged and taped up
Yes, Discogs first port of call
But my favourite buy of the last month is this Tammy Wynette tune from a 99p Oxfam LP
