New records - what have you just bagged?

toilet expert
Can't find a new purchases thread anywhere? Let's sort it out :)

I've just bought:

Ursula Rucker - This
One Way - Serving It
Freeez - Southern Freeeez
CFM Band - Jazz It Up

and the other day:

Jomanda - Don't You Want My Love
Direct Drive - Anything

Album by Alcest. French shoe gazey metal. I am a bit too pissed to tell you the album title. It's good though if you like that sort of thing. Which I do.

Licking windows on the 303 bus.
Im desperate to do some record shopping, but im so short of cash right now.

I want to get me some really bouncey jamaican ska....... I recorded a 7" show with a mate the other day, and he pointed out almost everything I own is basically a song of struggle :D

dros ben llestri
just the Bug LP recently (not sure if my copy has the fault on it as loops on one tune)
oh and 3 singles for a 50th i played at, Happy Birthday by Stevie, 'It's the same old song' and 'Somebody's watching me' by Rockwell

Quite a lot, always.

This tune, which I got at the weekend, has got straight under my skin. Lovely vocal from Little Roy and a sublime melodica cut on the flip from Inyaki (Basque Dub Foundation).

Tuff Scout still leading the way with modern roots productions. Little Roy starting to sound his age but his voice is still so sweet I could listen to it all day, and he has a real ear for melody. The rhythm is from a very obscure but favourite Studio 1 tune called God I God I Say, and instead of the usual pedestrian old relick Inyaki's thoughtful melodica fits the tune beautifully, or, as the old DJ's used to say when they'd written a lyric to ride a particular rhythm, sits on the rhythm like a lizard on a branch.

Exiting the Vampire Castle
My Grey Horse - I still don't understand

Midnght Bonfires - Exhale

Both a bit folky, Bon Iver/Shins sound imho. Both excellent!

Last weeks order….

Antoni Maiovvi - Psychoplasmics EP
Fernando Fiorucci - Giant Desert

Comfortable chair.
Quick look can't find any vids but it was THIS
Got it for the 'We're Gonna Dance' track. Spacey/bassy, kinda similar in vibe to Juno - Soul Thunder

Wow, finding that vid is the first time I've heard it in a few years. Goosebumps.

Comfortable chair.
:eek::eek:fucking hell!!! As a result of being on the Discogs page for that ^, I've just found something I've wanted for over 20 years!
Ok, I may not have actually tried to track it down but still :D

ska invita

back on the other side
talking of new tracks in a Juno feel, zeedoodles recently bought this (opened his most recent mix with it)

which sounds a lot like this old classic to me - must be a homage what with it also being called Pressure something or other

wtf, you want me to start a new thread for you for a 'style' that you had to explain to me? Some people :D
