Indeed....it wasn't raw at all...Terrorists was raw, GATS was over produced and polished with guitars higher in the mix and increased percussion and keyboards mimicing string sections. I know Everlasting was later and it was an abomination.

"From despair" is the only semi-decent song on the entire albumi...it's a mess of half-finished ideas and B-sides IMO.
 
GATS sucks

it's not stripped down at all, it's full of violins and stuff

some of the songs on it are great as well, but they are drowned in sound effects

The songs on it were well cheesy, but IMO GATS was, in terms of the pure production, much rawer than the first one or Holy Bible.
 
been listening to this album a bit last few days, i really like it. what they said in that guardian piece, it's like a sort of an 'after the storm' sequel to the holy bible

definetely better than any of the other stuff they've done without him imo
