I can't believe people are still slating the excellent Indy 4! Oh god you're sooooooo cool aren't you? Oh look at me, I don't like the new Indy 4 or the new Star Wars films or I think the Da Vinci Code was poorly written cos I'm so god damn fookin cool!

:confused::hmm::mad:

and yes, now you mention it, the Da Vinci Code was appallingly written.

Still, there's no accounting for taste eh...

:p

yes I was just trying to be cool being incredibly disappointed by one of my favourite film people from being a kid being in a film that was boring and shit and wasn't really anything to do with indiana jones

he was cool as fuck in the old days, I can still watch Raiders of the Lost Ark and enjoy it, but unfortunately harrison ford is now an old man so he can't make any more films

so fucking don'T!!!!!

The Indy film. I can't begin to express the depths of my loathing, indeed I don't think the words exist in English, for Crystal Skull. It's not just a bad Indy film, it's a really fucking bad film full stop.

Don't be a dick - people are just giving their honest appraisals

As much as I like both Indy and Star Wars, I have to vote for Star Wars as they managed to fuck it up not once, but THREE times!

I admit that the fight between Maul, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan was good in TPM, and the end fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin in ROTS was awesome, but there are far too many flaws in all films that those moments simply can't make up for. Those films destroyed my respect for characters such as Yoda, Darth Vader and R2 D2 and that is unforgivable imo.

I initially came away from the cinema after watching Indy quite pleased, but when I thought about it later it was utter tosh. Way too much CGI and bad characterisation (wtf was John Hurt's character about ffs) didn't make up for having Indy back.

To anyone who thinks that the Indy film is worse, I have 3 simple syllables.

Jar Jar Binks.

That said, if they took Binks and the Gungans out and replaced them with some good aliens, and also got rid of the tedious pod race segment of the first film, and the dreadful love scenes in the meadow in the 2nd, and put something better in instead, casting someone like Jake Gyllenhaal as the young Anakin, the Prequel Trilogy might have been quite good.

I watched them when they were on telly a couple of weeks ago and really changed my mind

Phantom Menace is ok, I thought the pod race was pretty good, the film took ages to get going but overall it was entertaining and the Darth Maul battle is awesome

Attack of the Clones is absolute shit all the way through, everything about it sucks, the only vaguely interesting thing about that film is you can sort of see Ewan McGregor's heart breaking as he realises that he's gotten to play Obi Wan Kinobe which must be a dream come true, but he's playing Obi Wan in such an abortion of a film

ROTS was decent I thought, some very bad bits, but the battles an ting made up for it

As for this, the "new" Star Wars were far, far worse than the new Indiana Jones film was.

I think Revenge of The Sith was a close examination of male sexuality and a critique of the possible flaws contained within masculine rite-of-passage rituals

It's all about fatherhood, man.

How would you like it if your dad metaphorically castrated you with his enormous pink sword?

Poor old Anakin, he literally has no dad and every father-figure he gets he has to call 'Master'.

That too. It's the combination of mythological and archetypal tropes mixed with robots and space pirates that makes it so awesome.

A bit like The Wire with its combo of profound critique of advanced capitalism with cool gangsta shit.

you are both boorish bastards like my dad.

When ROTS came out I lived in a really grimey flat in Korea and had no TV or internet. I spent about 6 months watching that and sin city every day except on the weekends when I got to see my then girlfriend

it's the only new star wars that i have affection for
