I'm not sure this is a good thing - more a cash in. The fact that it got cancelled meant that the writers came up with some of the best cartoonage ever made IMO - they had nothing to lose.

The last episode, "The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings", is an absolute masterpiece and things are just left nicely.

What the hell are they going to do? Will Fry end up with Leela or will they end up apart again? Will it become the animated version of Friends?!??!

No good can come of this. We're doomed, DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED.

If you listen to the DVD commentary, that episode was written before the show was canned, so it isn't meant as a finale. Just a coincidence that it could be received as such.

Erm, the remains of a space probe that collided with God, isn't it? Rather than the other way round?

The scene from 'The series has landed' with the Eagle featuring a plaque for the 'Historical Sticklers Society' goes a long way to explaining the kind of sense of humour you need for Futurama. That and Klein beer in Klein bottles.

Futurama is different from the Simpson's and took a bit of getting into. I think that this caused a lot of people to lose interest early on but I think I actually prefer it to the Simpson's now.

I don't know why but that episode with Fry's dog where he waits for him to return outside the pizza place, growing old and then closing his eyes, is one of the sadess things I have ever seen on TV.

My wife cannot bear to watch that episode.

It's brilliant, that. Great use of music, quite genuinely moving.

I like it so I'm posting OK.

I really miss the show and for one and happy to see it's return as a full series and not just the three films.

Also for the dvd release they are doing a full 22 minute episode of 'everyone loves hypnotoad'.
