When me and the boyfriend moved in together last month we bought a new bed (after sleeping on the wooden floors for nearly a month :D)

Other than that I think the only two new things I've owned were some of those really cheap flat pack pine slatted shelves from argos and my computer.

Hmmm. I'm going to be buying a new fridge and washing machine soon, and my wardrobe was bought for me new in my early teens (I've kept onto it) but that's about it.

They should have been, they are sledge beds!

Before I moved into this house, almost everything I owned had been given to me, or bought secondhand.

This meant that most things were pretty tatty, although I loved my old house and its organised clutter....

Anyway, when I moved here, I made a bit of a profit on the sale and purchase of houses, so I used the extra money to buy loads of new stuff, including beds and wardrobes and settees and computer and computer cupboard and cooker and fridge. It was very exciting and a bit overwhelming. That was a few years ago, and everything is pretty tatty again now.

I also once bought a brand new bike, after mine was stolen. At the time, it was the most expensive thing I had ever bought, and it felt really weird and not particularly nice. I loved the bike though. Still got it, even though it is just gathering rust and dust in the garage!

I have never bought a new car, and never would. My current car was "lent" to me by my parents when my mother could no longer drive, because it's worth very little so not worth their while selling it.

I love Loewe TV's but can't, or more importantly wouldn't, pay full price so I get my TV's second hand. Like Geri, made do with second hand furniture when I first moved into my house but have replaced everything for new over time. My gorgeous as new Cooker was a freebie from a neighbour when he moved in with his OH :)

I don't think I would ever buy a car brand new because I know it is false economy.

It makes me feel so good to look around my house and see the fruits of my labour.
