New Climate Change Film: The Age of Stupid

I'm looking forward to seeing this new documentary by Franny Armstrong, director of McLibel. Looks like a novel, slightly different approach than that taken with An Inconvenient Truth and the 11th Hour.

Blurb from the site: The film stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as a man in 2055 looking back to 2008 and asking why we didn't stop climate change when we had the chance.

It features a mix of clips 'from the future', archive footage and animation,

Also, interestingly, it was 'crowd-funded' *cringe*, by donations from individuals with a promise of a cut of the return. Time Article on the subject here - http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1838768,00.html

I'll be toddling along to this, as the premiere is being held in 60 cinemas nationwide on the 15th of March and starts at 5pm IIRC.

Be there or be, well, somewhere else, obviously.

Went to the premier last night - was great. The audience (not in Leicester Square, it was beemed to 65 locations - a world record) loved it and there was lots of applause, cheering etc. Ed Balls got a bit cornered at the end (rightly so), but fair play to him he did his best and came off alright.
Big gear up for Copenhagen 2009.

rating: *****

Went to the Newcastle showing last night and did enjoy it, although I thought it was pretty dumbed down - if it was 30 mins shorter it'd be a good film to show in schools but not sure it will do that well as a serious film about the perils of climate change.

Still, the sequence about the wind farms was good and the posh woman picking up the farmers use of an incorrect word went down well with the audience, cue a polite ripple of pantomine hissing :)

Couldn't stay for the Q&A session afterwards
