I don't know what the fuss about her biography is its hard to belive she sat at the word processor day after day to churn that out either. Actually I have never known my mum to read a book (although she claimed to have done on holiday last year). she is perfectly literate and articulate

Some people aren't that bothered by reading: fair enough.

I agree.

why is it 'sick' bluestreak?

imo the story's not even newsworthy....why would we give a shit who reads and who doesn't?

I didn't read a book til I was 25.

It was called 1984 by George Orwell. Top stuff and kept me out the pub for a couple of days.

Haven't read any books for about 2 years.

True, but books are one of, perhaps the most, uncensored and free methods of disseminating information. To rule it out of your life seems - well, stupid really.

sick, IMO, because the notion of a world without books seems to me like the notion of a world without wanting to learn. not talking about intelligence but the vast panorama of information, knowledge and ideas. refusing to read anything seems to me to be a deliberate policy of closing your mind, and not using your critical faculties at all.

now i'm sure this is going to get me flamed to fuck as being some sort of arrogant cunt, and so be it. but to me the notion of not wanting to read is as alien as can possibly be. it's just beyond comprehension. it's wilful ignorance, and i think that's pretty sick.

and the implication that just because she scrubs up well means she doesn't read isn't really a very nice one.

OoooOOOOooooh!

That's not my thinking at all.

1) She does NOT "scrub up well"!

2) She's Rebecca Loos and should therefore be shot.

that's rebecca loos?

maybe i should stop reading and start paying attention to important things....

and thora, it appears that 'you' are reading a dictionary or thesaurus. i approve thoroughly!

nothing wrong with reading the bible. some great stories in there, if you like murder, incest, drug abuse, and handing your daughters over to be raped.

excellent. then i call this meeting of the anarchist bible study group to order. item one. is this god a bastard or what?

All the little girls at home who'll go 'well I want to be JUST LIKE HER!' as they play with their Playboy 'My Little Pornstar' :(

Are there any little girls, anywhere, who seek to emulate that perma-stunned has-been?

well since god dosent have parents technically yes but probably best not to raise sunday school :) .
Nothing wrong with not reading books if you dont like them but to claim you never read a book does tend to make you look bit odd imho.
